Ci avevano avvertito che il tempo non sarebbe stato dalla nostra parte, ci hanno dato la possibilità di annullare ed ottenere un rimborso oppure tentare la fortuna. Bhe, la nostra guida, David, ci ha portato fino in Svezia per farcela vedere, e trovate condizioni climatiche pessime, abbiamo proseguito per altre due ore e mezza prima di trovarla! La nostra uscita era stata confermata il giorno prima con una probabilità del 70-80% di vedere l'aurora boreale, tuttavia la sera del tour le previsioni meteo sono cambiate con il rischio che tutto fosse annullato. Abbiamo atteso circa 45 minuti prima di poter partire, la nostra guida Vikking ci ha spiegato che a sud di Rovaniemi il cielo era più sereno, per cui il tour era stato confermato.
Dopo circa un'ora di strada ci fermiamo e tempo di scendere inizia il primo spettacolo. Nonostante la luna piena l'aurora si vedeva ed è durata una ventina di minuti. Siamo poi ripartiti per spostarci (nuvole in arrivo anche lì), ci siamo fermati fuori dalla strada principale e abbiamo atteso una mezz'ora (stava arrivando la tempesta geomagnetica prevista) al caldo nel pulmino con del tè caldo e dei muffin. 30-40 minuti di attesa ed il cielo si è illuminato di verde e anche di rosso: aurora boreale ovunque intensa nonostante la luce della luna per più di mezz'ora. Siamo tutti soddisfatti, felici della fortuna che abbiamo avuto e della preparazione della nostra guida che ha trovato dei posti perfetti per poterla osservare. Vengono fatte foto dalle guide che poi ti vengono mandate come ricordo!
