Amazing!

The wine guide Matthias was amazing. He was very informative giving us the history of wine and ancient Greece - of the roads, churches and winemaking. At the wine museum , Eri informed us on winemaking and the wines at the tasting. The wines were better than any so far- we are from wine country in California. The little town of Megalorchi was so authentic. The Prophet of Elijah’s church at the top of the mountain was so surreal. You could feel the centuries of history in it! Would highly recommend.

Amazing!

we were running a little late (as we climbed all 600 steps up the side of the cliff with the donkeys)! Our tour guide was incredibly patient, helpful, knowledgeable and thoughtful! Had the most amazing time at the wine tasting, and we saw the highest point of Santorini with breathtaking views of the Island! Dinner at Septem was magical with 4 -course authentic Greek food!

Amazing!

Our sunset cultural tour consisted of four parts: a visit to the traditional village of Megalochori and it's old cave house, a stopover with a sweeping view of the Caldera, the Santorini wine museum, and a trip to the island's highest peak on the territory of the Prophet Elijah monastery.

Megalochori is a festival of colour, with the flowers and the blue domes of the churches accentuated by the traditional white. Our guide Elena revealed the secrets of the surrounding vineyards with their deep rooted vines and basalt rocks. The traditional cave house in the village showed the austere lifestyle of villagers in the 17th century.

At the Caldera stop, Elena described the rich geological history of the island, and we took photos against the epic backdrop of the volcano.

The wine museum is based in the old underground cellar of the Koutsogiannopoulos winery. It shows the journey of a family of wine merchants, starting from humble beginnings with their ship being blown off course to Santorini, and developing a thriving and pioneering wine empire.

The final stop was the peak of Profitis Ilias mountain, and a stopover in the monastery's church and shop. Our driver Dinas who took us to the peak was very professional, and we always felt safe. On the way there we saw a plane lifting off below us, and the views from the peak were unparalleled. The monks have a beautiful church open to visitors, and a shop with goods and food of the highest quality.

What made the tour very special and gave it a human touch was Elena's deep knowledge and true love of the island and it's culture. She gave great photo tips and took photos for us. She gave a genuine insight into island life and history.

Amazing!

We couldn’t recommend this tour enough! You start by learning some of the history of wine in Santorini and the wine museum, followed by wine tasting. Then explore a beautiful old village, before going to the highest point of Santorini to see 360 views. Finished off by a feast and a beautiful restaurant with great company. We loved this tour and would do it again and again

Amazing!

The tour was amazing. We visited the G. Koutsoyannopoulos winery where we were shown the process of growing grapes on Santorini, tasted 4 of the wines produced on property and toured the wine cave. Next we walked through the beautiful village of Megalochori. Amazing architecture and stunning views were abundant.

Amazing!

We had the most wonderful time on this trip and it was not the lovely wine or beautiful sunset that made it, it was the fantastic host Elanor and great driver Stelios! From the moment they picked us up to the second they dropped us back we were treated like friends. These two really did make it our favourite day in Santorini. Elanor took great pictures for us (something as a couple we do very rarely together), if it got windy she shared her coat and if we had questions she was able to answer them. Stelios made us feel safe, explaining history of the area and how long he had been taking people around the island (some of the cliff sides are steep , so to know you had an expert driver was fantastic). The wine was lovely, recommend it and the nibbles just right. The view for the sunset was out of this world. I wish we had done this sooner in our trip[ as it helped us get a sense of the island and Elanor and Stelios gave us so much knowledge that we cant wait to come back again! THANK YOU THANK YOU we will never forget such a perfect day!
