Cycling in the Balkans ( 4 Countries Albania-North Macedonia-Kosovo-Montenegro)

Welcome to Albania! Your journey begins at Tirana Airport, from where you'll be transferred to your hotel in the city center. Depending on your arrival time, you'll have the opportunity to explore Tirana, visiting Enver Hoxha's nuclear bunker and the National Museum of History. In the evening, meet your fellow travelers over a welcome dinner.

After breakfast, we'll transfer to the northern side of Lake Ohrid. We'll cycle along the scenic shore towards Pogradec, cross into Macedonia, and visit the Monastery of St. Naum before reaching Ohrid. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake and explore the beautiful city of Ohrid.

Today, we'll cycle along the Black Drin Valley, following the river from Lake Ohrid to Debar. Enjoy the stunning views of the gorge, dams, and lakes along the way. Once in Debar, you'll have the opportunity to explore the city's rich history and thermal water springs.

Today's ride takes us through the breathtaking landscapes of Mavrovo National Park. We'll cycle through gorges, pine forests, and waterfalls, and enjoy the stunning views of Mt Korab, the highest peak in North Macedonia and Albania.

After an early breakfast, we'll transfer to the border with Kosovo. We'll cycle up and down the picturesque Sharr Mountain, a popular skiing destination in the former Yugoslavia. Our destination for the day is Prizren, a charming city filled with mosques and churches.

Today, we'll take a break from cycling and travel by bus to Peja, Kosovo's third-largest city. We'll visit the UNESCO sites of Peja Patriarchy and Rugova Valley. Spend the afternoon relaxing and exploring the surrounding mountains.

After breakfast, we'll cycle down the Rrugova National Park towards the remote border with Montenegro. Enjoy a beautiful climb inside an ancient forest and a spectacular descent with views of the Plava Valley dotted with caustic lakes.

We'll leave the Plava Valley and cycle through the Komovi Mountains to reach the Trešnjevik Pass. From there, we'll descend into the valley of the Tara River and continue to the town of Kolašin, situated beneath the Bjelasica and Sinjajevina mountains.

We'll leave Kolašin and cycle alongside the Tara River, entering the lower reaches of the Tara River Canyon. After lunch overlooking the Tara Bridge, we'll enter the Durmitor National Park and reach Žabljak, a winter ski resort. Explore the resort or go for a short bike ride around The Black Lake.

Today's ride takes us through the Durmitor National Park, with a dramatic ascent to the Prevoj Sedlo Pass and a second ascent to the Prijespa Pass. We'll then descend through magnificent limestone scenery and alpine meadows to the shore of Lake Plužine and the town of Plužine.

From Pluzine, we'll cycle along the Komamica River heading south toward Nikšić. After lunch, we'll transfer to the Ostrog Monastery, a miraculous construction in a cliff face. We'll then continue to Cetinje, the Old Royal Capital city of Montenegro, where you can explore the historical center and relax at one of the centuries-old open-air terraces.

Today, we'll travel from the highlands down to the Adriatic Coast. We'll head west to Lovcen National Park, then descend through a series of hairpin bends with dramatic views of the Boka Kotorska below. After reaching Kotor, we'll cycle alongside the shoreline to reach Dobrota.

Enjoy a free day to explore the medieval city of Kotor. Wander through the city's squares, visit the cathedral and churches, and get lost in the patchwork of narrow streets. You can also take a boat trip or hire a canoe on the Boka Kotorska, or cycle around the bay for magnificent views.

Our final day of cycling takes us alongside the western shore of Lake Skadar, which straddles the border between Montenegro and Albania. Enjoy the wide open views across the lake's blue waters. After crossing the border back into Albania, we'll enter the city of Shkodër, the largest city in Northern Albania.

Farewell day. Depending on your flight, right after breakfast we will transfer for one and a half hours to Rinas airport in Tirana. It's time to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again on another adventure!
