Trekking in South Albania

Your Albanian adventure begins in the vibrant city of Tirana. After meeting at the airport, we'll head south to either Tepelena or Peshtan, where you'll have the chance to soak in your first impressions of this beautiful country.

We'll start the day with a short transfer to a small village, from where we'll hike through forests and terraced fields to the almost deserted village of Kala. After crossing the humpbacked Ottoman stone bridge, we'll reach our destination for the day, the village of Limar. Accommodation for the night will be at the Damani Guesthouse (or similar).

Today, we'll traverse footpaths connecting various hamlets, passing by the stunning Zagoria River and the Doshnica Waterfall. Don't miss the chance to visit the Church of the Holy Apostle, a beautiful example of Orthodox heritage. We'll end the day at the Guesthouse Telo (or similar), where you'll be hosted by a family who returned to Albania after 17 years in Greece.

Today's journey offers a relaxing day on foot with views of Mount Cajupi. We'll pass through the villages of Vuthuq, Koncka, Nivan, and Sheper. In Nivan, we'll visit the square dedicated to William Tilman, a famous British mountaineer and sailor. We'll spend the night in Sheper at the Guesthouse Duli (or similar), hosted by a family with Aromanian roots.

Today, we'll cross the Dhembel-Nemercke range, making our way back to civilization. The journey will take us through a shady gully up to the alpine pastures of the Dhembel Pass. After a long, rocky descent, we'll reach Leuse, a stone village with a beautiful church. We'll end the day at the Hotel Alvero (or similar).

We'll start the day with a scenic drive to the Sopot waterfall. On the way back, we'll stop at the warm thermal baths of Benja, known for their healing properties. The day ends with a transfer to Gjirokaster, also known as the 'city of stone'. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore the city's charming streets and soak in its unique atmosphere. We'll spend the night at the Hotel Kodra (or similar).

Today, we'll explore Gjirokaster, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Ottoman villas. Visit the towering castle and the ethnographic museum before heading back to Tirana. In the capital, we'll visit Skanderbeg Square and the trendy Blloku district. We'll spend the night at Vila 60 (or similar).

After breakfast at Vila 60 (or similar), your Albanian adventure comes to an end. Whether you're heading home or continuing your travels, you'll carry with you the unforgettable memories of this beautiful country.
