Dachstein Circuit Hike

Begin your day with a short bus ride to the stunning Gosausee, where the adventure truly starts. Ascend by cable car to Zwieselalm, where a scenic hike awaits. Traverse through lush alpine pastures and dwarf pine forests, with panoramic views of the majestic Gosaukamm and Torstein peaks. As you approach the Hofpürgl Lodge, prepare for a cozy overnight stay amidst the alpine beauty. Remember to carry your overnight essentials as your main luggage will be transferred to Ramsau.

Embark on a high-altitude trek across the Kesselwand, marveling at the rugged rock formations of Hochkesselkopf. The trail meanders through ancient alpine pines and vibrant meadows, offering a perfect alpine panorama. Descend to the charming town of Ramsau, where your luggage awaits and a comfortable hotel (or similar) provides a restful night.

Ascend to the majestic Dachstein Glacier via cable car, embarking on a thrilling hike across the Schladminger Glacier. Navigate scree and grassy slopes, with breathtaking views at every turn. Descend to a cozy hut for the night, or opt for an alternative valley route if weather conditions are unfavorable. Your main luggage will be transferred to Groebming, where you'll stay the following night.

Hike through the UNESCO-listed Notgasse gorge, with its towering rock walls and ancient petroglyphs. Follow an ancient mule path to the alpine hamlet of Viehbergalm, where local produce is often available. Cross the summit of Hochmühleck, descending through forests to Steinitzenalm and onward to Bad Mitterndorf for an overnight stay.

Board a train to Bad Aussee, then hike through the enchanting Koppen valley to the Koppenbruellerhoehle Cave, where a guided tour reveals its secrets. Continue to Obertraun, taking a ferry to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hallstatt. Known for its ancient salt mining history and stunning alpine setting, Hallstatt offers a captivating two-night stay.

Spend a day exploring the wonders of Dachstein Adventure World, accessible via the Krippenstein cable car. Visit the mammoth and ice caves, and take in the breathtaking views from the 'Five Fingers' platform. Enjoy short walks with stunning vistas over the lakes and Dachstein massif, before returning to your accommodation in Hallstatt.

Take a ferry across Lake Hallstaettersee, then hike along its eastern shore to Bad Goisern. Ascend to the Goiserer lodge via Trockentannalm, where stunning views of the Tote Gebirge and Dachstein Glacier await. For an even better view, hike to Kalmberg Summit. Overnight at the Goiserer lodge, with your luggage transferred to Gosau for the following night.

Descend from Goiserer lodge through picturesque landscapes of dwarf pines, alpine roses, and ancient larch trees. Pass by quaint alpine huts, reaching Iglmoosalm before continuing through forests to Gosau. Your luggage awaits at your hotel, where you can relax and reflect on your journey.
