Vienna to Tirana: Tour of Central Europe & the Balkans in 14 days

Kick off your journey in the cultural hub of Austria, Vienna. Our tour leader will pick you up from your hotel and we'll head towards our first destination, Rust, a charming city known for its wine region. Enjoy the scenic drive through hilly vineyards and the magnificent view over Lake Neusiedl, a UNESCO world heritage site. Explore Rust's historic center and its traditional Austrian architecture. After Rust, we'll drive towards Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, where we'll spend the night.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before exploring the charming city of Bratislava. Visit the medieval Old Town Hall and learn about Slovakia's ancient history. Head to Michael's Gate, the oldest town building, and then walk up to the iconic Bratislava Castle for a panoramic view of the city. In the afternoon, return to the city center and immerse yourself in Bratislava's legendary café culture. Enjoy the aroma of roasted coffee beans in one of the traditional coffee shops. Our journey continues towards Hungary, with our first stop being the picturesque 'City of Rivers', Győr. Wander the historic streets, visit the Town Hall and the Cathedral of The Virgin Mary, and walk towards the colossal Győr Synagogue. Enjoy some free time to taste delicious Hungarian food and the famous blueberry beer. Later, we'll drive towards Budapest, where we'll spend the night.

Our destination for today is Subotica in Serbia, a city known for its rich cultural heritage, intricate architecture, and European charm. Visit the city center, dominated by the City Hall, and explore Subotica's streets and squares. Visit the Cathedral of St. Teresa of Avila and the Synagogue. Enjoy some free time to explore the city and taste the local cuisine. Overnight in Subotica.

Today, we'll learn more about the region's tradition of wine production in Sremski Karlovci, the center of Serbian culture in the 18th century and famous for its well-respected wine cellars. This 'museum town' with its Baroque center is a real gem of Serbian culture and spirituality. After the tour, you'll have some free time to taste different wine specialties of the region while enjoying the spectacular views of the vineyards. We'll then head to Belgrade for the night.

Today, we'll visit Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Explore the city's rich history, visit the Latin Bridge, and learn about the triggering of WWI. Sarajevo is well known for its various delicious meat dishes and desserts. Our tour continues to the city of Mostar, where we'll visit the iconic Old Bridge, a UNESCO world heritage site, and wander through the Old Bazaar. Overnight in Mostar.

Our tour continues towards Kotor, a UNESCO world heritage site in Montenegro. Wander through the maze of narrow, cobblestone streets crisscrossing the old town. Visit the Saint Luke's church, which represents unity to the locals. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure to explore this magnificent UNESCO world heritage site. Overnight near the Montenegrin Riviera.

Our first destination for today is Budva in Montenegro, a popular tourist destination famous for its beaches, gorgeous nature, and old characteristic buildings. Visit the St. Ivan church and the medieval splendors of the old town. On our way to Albania, we'll stop near Sveti Stefan, a sight for sore eyes. From Montenegro, we'll cross the border to Shkoder, Albania, one of the oldest cities in Albania. Visit the Rozafa castle offering tremendous scenery of the lake and the three rivers melting all together in the Adriatic Sea. Overnight in Shkoder.

Our main destination for today will be Kruja, a historical city symbol of the Albanian resistance against the expansion of the Ottoman Empire. Walk through the narrow streets and wooden houses of Kruja's Medieval Old Bazaar, the biggest and oldest in the Balkans. Visit the castle of Kruja, strategically placed on the top of a rocky hill. Enjoy some free time to enjoy a tasty traditional lunch, do some souvenir shopping, or admire the city. Driving to Tirana, the capital of Albania, marks the end of this amazing experience through history and culture.
