Village Venture: Troodos Mountains Food & Wine Small Group Day Tour

We had a great time on the Village Ventures food and wine tour (February 2025) with Helena. On the tour, we visited six different stops and had the opportunity to try fresh halloumi and anari at a local family’s home, Cypriot wines at a winery, honey at a bee museum, a full feast at a traditional Cypriot restaurant and various donkey milk products at a donkey farm. We also had some free time in the village of Lefkara, famous for its traditional lace-making.

The day was particularly eventful as it snowed for several hours and was very cold. Helena did a great job in these challenging and unexpected conditions, and we appreciated how the car was always very warm, that she would come to pick us up to minimise unnecessary walking, and the clear instructions and information she provided throughout the day.

It was a great way to spend the day and we would highly recommend this for anyone looking to visit Cyprus for a few days!

I had a fabulous day experiencing aspects of Cypriot food, life and culture that I'd not had an opportunity to explore fully before. As someone with Cypriot heritage, I already had some knowledge of the island, having visited many times before. But in the expert hands of Dimitra, our passionate tour guide, I now have a much deeper insight. Dimitra introduced us to numerous welcoming local people, living the authentic rural life, including parents, grandparents and grandchildren. We were shown a variety of fascinating production techniques. We enjoyed delicious local food and wines. I thoroughly recommend this tour to those wanting to know the real Cyprus.

Had a fantastic time on this tour! The small group size made it feel intimate and well-paced, with plenty of time to explore and take in the beauty of the Troodos Mountains. The villages were charming, and the local food and wine tastings were a real highlight—everything was fresh, authentic, and delicious.

Our guide, Georgina, was absolutely wonderful—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the area. She made the experience even more enjoyable with her stories and insights.

Georgina, our guide, had a wonderful tour for us and got a disparate group all laughing together too. We started feeding donkeys - not expected - but great fun too and something of an icebreaker as we discovered! Various food and wine tasting and learning about how foods were produced. Stopped for lunch at a fantastic restaurant - probably ate too much and maybe drank too much but thoroughly enjoyed our day. Thoroughly recommended.

It was a really great day with great people. I recommend this tour when you visit Cyprus. Panico was an amazing guide and host, he thought all of us all the day to feel comfortable. As a solo traveler I greatly appreciate it. He tried to give us as much information as possible about food and drinks as well as the families of local farmers and winemakers. And also many of the history of Cyprus. When I am here next time, I will definitely try another tour with Panico. Probably wine tour. Thank you for the unforgettable day.

We live in Cyprus for 2 years, but we've discovered so much during this tour! We really went where the locals go (and where it would be very difficult to get to if you're a tourist). We saw real life of real farmers, had a real (abundant) lunch at local taverna (with bottomless wine). We even went to a vinery, that we have visited before on our own, but with Georgina's stories we realised that we saw nothing there before.

This is truly a Real Taste of Real Cyprus and we cannot wait to have other trips offered by Cyprus Taste Tours - we love Cyprus and Cyprus taste Tours is a great opportunity to find places we couldn't have discovered otherwise.

The groups are small, so you get to ask questions and get personal answers, and take your time if you need to do some shopping or want to discover more of any particular place.

Our guide Georgina was amazing - a real "vibe", with amazing sense of humour, great stories of a truly local person, excellent recommendations, not to mention that she's an experienced driver and we felt safe and looked after with her.

Our guide Helena was absolutely excellent in her abilities to highlight all that we were seeing and doing.

This tour sounded great and it didn’t disappoint. All very authentic. Tasted some yummy food and had a terrific visit to a winery with a lot of tastings of lovely wine. And then there was the beautiful donkeys we visited. Adorable babies and the teenagers and adults were very polite when taking the snacks from me.

Georgina, our guide, picked me up right on time. She was a lot of fun and provided a great experience. I would 100% recommend this tour
