Amazing!

We came here on the recommendation of Maison Brotte by my daughter who said it was superb. We had a great time and certainly not to be missed. Me and my daughter enjoyed a day at Châteauneuf-du-Pape enjoying the sites, castle, surrounding landscape and a delicious lunch also reviewed at la part des anges.

Maison Brotte is at the bottom of the hill is near to buses and a car park. We were first welcomed by the manager who gave us a brief description of what would happen. This can be in your language of choice. Then on to your tour. It was very quiet (no large groups thankfully) and tour at your own pace (audio) maybe 20/30 mins. We learnt a lot about Chateau neuf du pape wine, the terrain, the family, wine making and the Rhone valley even after touring and living in the area there were still things we didn’t know.

After this, back down to the shop area where we met a really nice guy, Jean Olivier who is like the sommelier of the tour, intelligent, witty and will communicate in your language of choice, we chose French as it was good to use it.

We had 5 wines to try of different character and age. He gave a brief description and then we tried them, and we spoke about the flavours, types of food pairings etc. It was adapted to us personally, he was informative and entertaining at the same time and it was fun to pass some time with him and his boss discussing wines. They work well together and that makes for a nice experience at Maison Britten.

You can buy any of the wines you try in the shop, we wished we weren’t flying and had a car as there was such a wonderful choice. Good for anyone passing longer holidays in the area.

We purchased some small bits from the shop like the Calissons which is a traditional sweet, a must for anyone with a sweet tooth or love of almond and makes a great gift from Provence.

It was wonderful to visit this area again and particularly to come to Maison Brotte, we’ll recommend to friends and come back again. Merci encore a Jean Olivier et son chef.

This is a great learning experience, and even though I knew some of the things about the region, I definitely learned some new information about the Rhone region, about Chateaunuef de Pape, and about the family history. And the wine tasted good as well.

Amazing!

The visit to the museum followed by the wine tasting has been one of the highlights of our holiday so far. The staff were very helpful and welcoming on arrival and the audio tour was extremely interesting. We were able to walk round at our own pace and really take in all the information about this family run winery and its history with Chateauneuf du Pape. The wine tasting was fabulous and Jean-Pierre talked us through each of the 5 wines. There was absolutely no pressure to buy anything but honestly, it is difficult not to be tempted.... we came away with a box of 6 glasses, bottle openers, and a variety of 8 wines!!! They also offer you a taste of a 'special' vintage red, only 900 bottles made that year....it was outstanding....... just couldn't bring ourselves to pay €200 for a bottle sadly but I will remember it for a very long time. Definitely go and visit!

The server at the entrance was very helpful and friendly. He explained the different wine tating tours. Once we chose what we wanted he explained how to get around the museum with the audio guide and what would happen when we were finished the tour. The museum visit was very informative and really worth the time. The wine tasting experience was excellent. Bastien served us and was very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining each different wine and what types of food or occasion the wine would go with. We had a great afternoon and enjoyed it so much we bought 3 boxes of wine! We highly recommend a visit to Maison Brotte.

What a great way to learn a lot in a short amount of time. We were warmly greeted, first in French, and then in English. The audioguided tour was extremely informative - covering history and going in depth around the growing, harvesting, and creation of local wines. The tasting that followed was very nice as well - all Brotte wines. We did not realize the museum was owned by a winery; the museum portion was very unbiased. We did this on day 3 in town - I would recommend this as a first stop.

Well done museum that displays and speaks of the local wine region. Interesting and informative. Audio guide was clear and easy to understand. At end of museum self guided tour we had the chance to taste 5 wines. All we're good and our server was friendly, informative, and spoke good English. She also provided us recommendations about restaurants in Avignon. We did follow one of them and had an excellent and reasonably priced dinner. Would definitely recommend.

We visited this museum yesterday. The museum itself was interesting with an audio tour at a fair price. You could select different package options that included a variety amount of wine tastings. We were helped by Emeline at the entrance and for our wine tastings. She was so extremely knowledgeable about wine and was very kind. Her friendliness and passion made the experience so much better!

Amazing!

The winery is laid out to make learning the process of winemaking understandable. The audio guide provides enough information, some rather technical but never pedantic. The tour ends with a wine tasting conducted by one of several very knowledgable guides. A great addition to any other half day tour. Close to Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.
