Hugo was a great guide-informative and friendly. Really enjoyed the walk round the cemetery and learnt a lot not just about the famous residents but Paris more generally. Highly recommended.

I’d give Francois six stars but we are limited to five. Awesome guide, attentive, engaging, well informed and personable. Enjoyed our time with him thoroughly!!

I normally wouldn’t do a cemetery tour but François, my tour guide yesterday in the Marais was so good I decided why not? So the rain is gone and now it’s cold but François is working his magic and I don’t notice the weather. The cemetery is not just a fascinating visual and auditory experience (imagine Addams Family on steroids.) Old elaborate but time worn above ground mausoleums under dark mulberry trees with the movement and calls of crows. They really ought to have special Halloween events here. François deftly navigated this massive area all the while kindly helping lost tourists who hadn’t hired a guide. The cemetery tells the political and artistic history of France. Along the way François offers color commentary about various French cultural customs and events. The time flies by. This is a unique way to learn about France in a different environment than one a tourist usually gravitates to. I’d take François giving a tour of Pere Lachaise Cemetery over a visit to the Arc de Triomphe any day.

While the cemetery itself is an endlessly fascinating and beautiful place, what made the experience a highlight of our Paris trip was the charm, wit and expert guidance of our tour guide, Hugo. An obviously seasoned historian, he regaled us with entertaining stories about the generations of people whose remains are buried there, along with just enough historical context for us laypeople to get a full understanding of the rich legacy of this important part of Paris's history. Highly recommended!

Our Père Lachaise tour was facilitated by Hugo who expertly guided us through the huge cemetery. We were booked in for a small group tour but lucked out as it was just the two of us on Hugo's list for the afternoon.

We toured gravesites where the mortal remains of notable people now rest, learnt about their remarkable lives and how they dented human history. We also learnt about Père Lachaise's evolution to become the world famous cemetery it now is as well as the memorials located within its walls.

In Hugo we had a very friendly, easygoing, knowledgeable guide with a passion for history who was eager to customise the tour just for us. Hugo was able to encourage and engage in discussions and enlighten us about French history as well as the trials, tribulations and successes of French and Parisian society. Plenty of walking done, plots covered (or uncovered as the case may be) and history to unravel. It was never a dull moment and we would absolutely do something like this again.

François was an excellent tour guide with so many fun stories and information. He really made our tour enjoyable. Plus being such a small group we got to see so many of the amazing tombs.

Our guide Mathieu was exceptional. He made us feel welcome right away. Each stop along the tour was well planned and fascinating. I have been the Pere Lachaise twice before taking this tour and wish that I took it earlier. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon and learning about the fascinating history of this beautiful location.

Great tour Francois was the perfect guide. Funny and informative we were supposed to be on a semi private tour but it ended up with Francois my husband and me wonderful afternoon
