Gibraltar: Official City Pass w/ Rock Tour Cable Car & More

Good to know

The pass is valid for 1 day from 5:00 AM to 11:59 PM on your chosen date The Cable is closed for annual maintenance from 22nd January to 23rd February (inclusive). You can access the attractions on the Rock using the included minibus Rock Tour or on foot You can travel by Cable Car or by guided Minibus Rock Tour, but not both. To use the Minibus Rock Tour, you must reserve places at least 24 hours in advance (the sooner you reserve the better) Minibus Rock Tour operates Mon-Fri and includes a guided tour, including Europa Point, St Michael's Cave, and an encounter with the monkeys at Apes Den. To stay longer on the Rock, ask the driver to let you off at Princess Caroline's Battery, a short walk form Great Siege Tunnels, WW2 Tunnels, and Moorish Castle. You will need to then walk 20 minutes downhill

Good!

Bad

We were never able to locate the minibus. Nowhere was it mentioned that we were to meet at the Midtown Parking Lot. A kind ticket agent at the cable car let us on without paying again. Our voucher was not valid at the ticket office. We went to the top of the rock and saw a few monkeys but that was it. As seniors it was a bit too much to navigate on foot. Also, the booking didn’t show up in my app until late on the day of the booking. Trrrible experience. We have used GYG many times, but probably wont again.

Good!

It was a good tour. We went by cable car and had only about 4hrs to spare which was not sufficient to explore the entire rock top. We went the route to Michael's cave and missed out on the tunnels. etc. You need to be physically fit to go by cable car because after drop off, you are entirely on your own to explore the rock, with LOTS of uphill climbs. NOT great for an asthmatic or persons living with any other respiratory challenges. I regretted this and wish that I went with the mini-bus tour option, because that comes with a guide and several the bus takes you throughout the trip. The cable car leaves by 17:45 and it really does. We missed it and it was horrible hiking down the entire rock to the pedestrian foot path back to the town center. If you go by cable car (which I don't recommend), then make sure you are back at the pick-up point early.

Just okay

Unfortunately I have to say the lack of information about the starting point of the Mini Rock bus took half of my trip and in the end I didn't use it because no one had heard about it in any information. There is no information about Europa Point which is included as free but it is free and you can get there by bus line 2 from the city for 3 euros both ways. You don't have to pay. There was supposed to be a lane without a queue for the cable car but we waited 1.5 hours to go up and in the end we had half an hour at the top to get back to the bus. Terrible information for people paying such a lot of money.
