Hiking Northern Greece

Today, you'll embark on the first part of your ascent of Mount Olympus, starting from the village of Prionia. You'll hike along the famous E4 path, passing through lush forests of pine, beech, and fir trees. After a day of trekking, you'll enjoy a hearty dinner at the mountain refuge and prepare for tomorrow's summit hikes.

Rise early for a challenging but rewarding day of hiking to the Skala and Skolio summits, two of the highest peaks on Mount Olympus. You'll pass under the 'Throne of Zeus' and traverse the Muses plateau before descending back to Litochoro.

Travel to the stunning region of Meteora, renowned for its ancient clifftop monasteries. You'll hike along local trails, passing by the ruins of Pantokrator and the 'hidden' monastery of Ypapanti, before reaching the magnificent Varlaam and Great Meteoron monasteries. After exploring Meteora, you'll transfer to the picturesque region of Zagori.

Spend the day exploring the quaint stone villages of Zagori, a region nestled in the Pindus mountain range. You'll discover the area's beautiful arched stone bridges and cobbled paths, which were built centuries ago to connect the remote mountainous communities.

Today, you'll trek through the stunning Vikos Gorge, known as the 'Greek Grand Canyon'. This breathtaking natural wonder is part of the Vikos-Aoos National Park and holds the Guinness record for being the world's deepest canyon in proportion to its width. After a day of hiking, you'll enjoy a locally-foraged dinner at a traditional taverna.
