Your journey begins at Skaftafell, where you’ll be outfitted with essential glacier gear, including crampons, an ice pick, and a helmet. After a safety briefing and gear fitting, you’ll set out on a moderate trek across the glacier’s dramatic ice formations and crevasses, learning about its fascinating history and geology along the way.
The hike covers approximately 8 kilometers over uneven terrain, so a moderate level of physical fitness is required. The experience lasts about five hours, with an additional hour recommended for check-in, preparation, and transport to and from the glacier. Please wear sturdy hiking boots with ankle support, which are available to rent if needed.
This small group tour guarantees a more personal and immersive experience, with a maximum of 12 participants. The minimum age is 14, and all safety equipment is provided. Dress warmly in layers and bring snacks, lunch, and water, as food and drinks are not included.
