Absolute Sicily: Palermo - Palermo (10 days/9 nights)

After breakfast, we'll head to the town of Monreale to visit the stunning Arab-Norman Cathedral and its impressive Cloister. We'll then return to Palermo, where we'll explore the city's rich Arab-Norman heritage, including the beautiful Cathedral, the Byzantine Martorana Church, and the Palatine Chapel. We'll also stop at a local bakery for a delightful food surprise. Overnight in Palermo.

Today, we'll visit Etna, Europe's tallest active volcano and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll explore the Etna Park, home to a diverse range of flora and protected species. We'll visit the Crateri Silvestri, inactive volcanic cones surrounded by recent lava flows, offering a unique view extending to the Aeolian Islands and Calabria. We'll also visit a beekeeping farm to learn about honey extraction and taste local products. Later, we'll proceed to Taormina, where we'll visit the Greco-Roman theatre and enjoy a stunning view of the Naxos Bay. Overnight in Catania.

After breakfast, we'll explore Ragusa Ibla, with its beautiful churches and the Ibleo Garden. We'll then proceed to Modica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its baroque architecture, where we'll taste local products. Our next stop is Piazza Armerina, where we'll visit the splendid Villa Romana del Casale, a late imperial building and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll end the day in Agrigento, where we'll check into our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

We'll start the day with a visit to the famous Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll then proceed to Marsala, a city rich in Phoenician, Arab, and Norman history, where we'll enjoy a wine tasting of the local wine. We'll also visit the Via del Sale, a nature reserve with one of the oldest salt mining industries in the world. In the evening, we'll return to Palermo for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we'll visit the town of Erice, located high on Mount San Julian. We'll explore its narrow streets, medieval arches, the historic center, the main church, and the Castle of Venere. In the afternoon, we'll continue to Segesta, where we'll visit the temple and the theater, both dating back to the 3rd century BC.
