Description
Discover the unique beauty of the Latvia-Lithuania border on this guided kayak adventure, starting from Riga. Your journey begins with a scenic drive to Skaistkalne, Latvia, where you'll have the chance to pick up snacks or drinks before we cross the bridge into Germaniskis, Lithuania, setting the stage for a day of cultural and natural exploration.
After arriving in Lithuania, we'll proceed to the starting point of our kayak tour. While your boats are being prepared, you can wander over to the mysterious Devil's Cave if you’re feeling adventurous. On the Latvian side, those interested can arrange a visit to the Skaistkalne sinkholes, a fascinating geological site protected within the Natura 2000 network.
Our gentle paddle down the calm river will reveal historic landmarks, including a picturesque watermill, a local school, and one of Latvia’s largest Catholic churches. The route is suitable for beginners, but all participants must be able to swim and will be provided with life jackets for safety, as required by Latvian law.
After the kayak trip, we’ll visit Latvia’s largest inland dune, a perfect spot for climbing and capturing panoramic photos from the top. Depending on prior arrangements, you can also explore the whimsical "Garden of God," an enchanting collection of oak sculptures and local curiosities crafted by Juri, who often shares his delicious apples and playful games.
Please remember to bring your passport and ID card, as we’ll be crossing international borders. I can accommodate various group sizes, whether you prefer to paddle solo or with a guide. Spots are limited, so check availability and secure your place on this one-of-a-kind cross-border adventure today!
