My girlfriend and I are visiting São Miguel for my 30th birthday and decided to do the Ponta Delgada food tour to get a culinary lay of the land to guide the rest of our trip. We went in with high expectations and they were exceeded in every way possible. Both our tour guide and his assistant were warm and welcoming and you could tell they both had a passion for what they did and weren't simply doing it for a paycheck. In addition to the top tier local cuisine (of which there was plenty) we were also treated to a walking tour of the city that discussed history from the cities formation to present day.
The food tour consisted of a couple stops for small bites, followed by a tour of the local farmer's market where the guides discussed local fruits and how they differ from the same fruits that you might eat anywhere else in the world. The next two stops were sit down restaurants that had a more filling fare and were both incredible experiences, and finally a third sit down restaurant where we had dessert and coffee. Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about the city that they're visiting or those just looking for a way to spend a few hours, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent experience great Tour Guide Andre. Well worth it. Easy walk not difficult at all. Fun for everyone in the family to try portuguese foods.

Our ship docked 2 1/2 hours late so we missed the original tour. Hungry Whales was able to reserve the restaurants again and sent us 2 very wonderful tour guides! The walking tour was very comprehensive and the food was exotic and fabulous!!!
