What should I expect from a B&B?
B&Bs are traditionally small family owned and run properties offering a handful of guest rooms. They are usually residential properties, so they tend to be located on the outskirts of towns and you should be prepared for a 20-30 minute walk to local facilities like pubs and restaurants.
It’s unusual for a B&B to offer any additional services like concierge, porterage, evening meals or room-service. Wi-fi is usually, but not always available and it’s worth bearing in mind that access can be unreliable in more remote locations.
If you have difficulty with stairs, please request a ground-floor room as lifts will not be available in this type of property.

Day 1 – Day 1: Edinburgh to Tobermory

We depart from Edinburgh, passing by the historic Stirling Castle on our way to the bustling town of Callander. Our journey continues through the lush Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and the rugged terrain of the Trossachs, leading us to the remote expanse of Rannoch Moor. We then head north to Glencoe, a site steeped in history. After a brief ferry ride across Loch Linnhe, we traverse the majestic mountains of Morven to Lochaline. Another ferry ride brings us to the Hebridean island of Mull, where we settle in the picturesque harbour town of Tobermory for a three-night stay.
Day 2 – Day 2: Tobermory to Iona and Staffa

We start the day by heading south to Fionnphort, from where we take a passenger ferry to the serene island of Iona, the birthplace of Celtic Christianity. Here, you can explore the historic Iona Abbey and delve into the island's rich history and Celtic heritage. In the afternoon, we offer an optional boat trip to the island of Staffa, home to the awe-inspiring Fingal's Cave, known as 'Nature's cathedral'. After a day of exploration, we return to Tobermory for the night.

Our journey takes us to the remote corners of the island, starting with the charming settlement of Dervaig. From there, we head to the stunning sandy shores of Calgary Bay, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. An early afternoon return to Tobermory gives you the chance to soak up the town's atmosphere, explore its quaint shops, and visit the local whisky distillery.

We leave Tobermory and head south to Craignure for a short ferry crossing to Oban, the largest town in Argyll. Our journey continues to the 18th-century town of Inveraray, nestled on the shores of Loch Fyne, where you can visit the magnificent Inveraray Castle. We then travel to the National Park of Loch Lomond, ascending to the 'Rest and be Thankful' viewpoint. Our journey concludes with a drive east towards Stirling, offering photo opportunities of the castle, before we return to Edinburgh in the early evening.
