Well worth making the effort to travel out of the city for these caves and the castle. Both experiences were definitely worth the cost and effort. Check beforehand as to when the tours of the caves are so as to avoid having to wait around. Staff were very friendly too.

This was a great trip to Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. The caves are amazing and the castle was quite unique as it is built into the side of a cliff. We found it better to go to the caves and Lake Bled on two different tours as they are over an hours drive apart in opposite directions from Ljublana, so going on two seperate tours gave us more time in each location.

The people carrier picked me up from City Hotel, Ljubljana.
We arrived at the first attraction Postojna Cave and were given half an hour to grab a coffee whilst he got our tickets. When we entered the cave an English speaking guide took us to a little train that whisked us further into the cave. After about 5 minutes we continued the tour on foot, with our guide explaining everything about the cave and it's formations of stunning stalagmite and stalactite pillars and huge cavernous chambers.
The second attraction was Predjama Castle just 10 minutes away. Seeing it for the first time is a definite WOW !! moment. The world's biggest castle built into the side of a cave. The tour is self-guided using either an audio guide or by downloading an app onto your phone. We were given about an hour to look around the castle and purchase souvenirs before heading back to the tour bus for the return to Ljubljana. Our driver was very informative on the outward journey but knew we were all a bit tired on the way back so let us relax peacefully.
