The Hotel Kristal is a small friendly family-run hotel, in typical alpine chalet style, offering great Slovenian hospitality. There is a good restaurant, inviting bar and lounge area, a wellness centre and a lovely garden, perfect for relaxing in after a days walking. The en suite rooms are comfortable and modern; with Wi-Fi throughout. Situated 500 metres from Lake Bohinj, with views of the surrounding mountains, it is an ideal base for a week's walking. Please note that the single rooms available at the hotel are smaller single occupancy rooms unless a single occupany twin room is requested (subject to surcharge).

All accommodation, activities and meals that are shown in the itinerary are included in the total cost of your trip You will also receive a complimentary transfer to and from the airport if you arrive on day 1 of the trip and depart on the last day and have provided your international flight information.

Day 1 – Day 1: Ljubljana to Lake Bohinj

Your journey begins at Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport, where you'll meet your driver and travel as a group to Lake Bohinj, the largest lake in Slovenia. Nestled in the Triglav National Park, the lake is surrounded by spruce forests and the stunning Julian Alps. You'll settle into the family-run Hotel Kristal (or similar), located a short walk from the lake. If you arrive early, you can explore Ljubljana, Slovenia's laid-back capital, before joining the group.

After breakfast, you'll embark on your first hike of the holiday, walking around the north side of Lake Bohinj. You'll follow a gently undulating forest trail to the Savica Waterfall, an impressive torrent fed by underground rivers. After soaking in the beauty of the waterfall, you can choose to walk back to the hotel or take a boat ride across the lake.

Today, you'll take a short bus ride to Milno, located on the shores of Lake Bled. From there, you'll explore the countryside around the lake, walking through forests, fields, and villages. After a short climb, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view of the lake. After lunch, you can choose to extend the walk by going around the lake or take the bus back to the hotel.

Today is a free day for you to relax or explore the region further. You can hire bikes or kayaks from the lakeside, or take the public bus to Lake Bled. There, you can visit the castle, walk through the Vintgar Gorge, or take a rowing boat out onto the lake. The gorge is a natural wonder, carved by the Ravnova River, with a wooden walkway that allows you to get close to nature.
Day 5 – Day 5: Exploring the Bohinj Valley

Today, you'll take a local bus to the village of Brod. From there, you'll hike over a low ridge, through woods, and into meadows filled with wildflowers. You'll then descend to the small farming villages of Srednja Vas, Studor, and Stara Fuzina. After exploring these picturesque places, you'll make your way back to Lake Bohinj.

Today, you'll walk along the southern shore of Lake Bohinj to the cable car station. After a quick ride to the top, you'll hike towards Orlove Glave, above the tree-line, where you may spot or hear a marmot. The views towards the high mountains are stunning, and on a clear day, you can see Mt Triglav. After your hike, you'll return to the valley floor and can choose to take the bus or hike back to the hotel.

Today, you'll walk from the hotel through an attractive village and alongside a white-water river through beautiful sections of gorge. You'll pass through the Voje Valley, with its pastures and chalets, and head to the Mostnica waterfall. The Mostnica Gorge is the most spectacular gorge in Bohinj, carved out by the crystal clear Mostnica stream. After exploring the gorge, you'll head back along different paths to reach the lake.
Day 8 – Day 8: Free Day or Optional Walk to Bohinjska Bistrica

On your final day, you can choose to relax and enjoy the many activities on the lake, or join your trip Leader for an optional morning walk to Bohinjska Bistrica. After the walk, you'll have plenty of time before your afternoon departure to Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Slovenian adventure.
