Walking in the Soča and Bohinj Valleys

Today, embark on an exploration of the Bovec Basin. Wander through enchanting woods and pastures, taking in panoramic views of the valley and mountains. Cross the picturesque Soča River, keeping an eye out for kayakers navigating its turquoise waters. Near the village of Kal Koritnica, follow a section of the historic Walk of Peace. Conclude your day with a visit to the Ravelnik Outdoor Museum before returning to Bovec.

Venture into the foothills northwest of Bovec today. Begin by exploring the old village and then meander through deciduous woodland to the picturesque village of Plužna. Discover the stunning Slap Virje waterfall, an ideal spot for a refreshing dip on a warm day. Continue to the mysterious source of the Glijuna River, where water gushes from a moss-covered jumble of boulders. Follow an aqueduct past a reservoir and descend through serene woods and farmland back to Bovec.

A transfer takes you to Trenta, where you will embark on the scenic Soča Trail. Follow the trail downstream along the valley, enjoying lush forests, vibrant meadows, and stunning river views. Ascend to a waterfall and pass through charming farms and small settlements. Marvel at the narrow Soča Gorge, which in some places is only two meters wide. Cross the river multiple times on pedestrian suspension bridges and walk beside the Krsovec Gorge before ascending back to Bovec.

Depart Bovec and walk through serene woods and pastures until you reach the magnificent Slap Boka waterfall, Slovenia's highest at 144 meters. Cross the Soča River and pass through the village of Log Čezsoški. Continue along the valley on a gravel track, sometimes close to the river, and cross a 63-meter-long suspension bridge, an ideal spot for a picnic and to watch rafts and kayakers below. A transfer will then take you to Ribčev Laz for the next three nights.

Embark on an introductory walk around the Bohinj area, a must-see for any visitor. This simple walk on mostly good paths takes you along the north shore of Lake Bohinj. Combine it with a visit to the Savica Waterfall for a more extended adventure. If the combined route proves too long, you can return from Ukanc by bus or boat. Enjoy a swim in the lake's warm waters during the summer months.

Today, follow a beautifully sculpted narrow limestone gorge with emerald pools and rapids. Continue into a lovely alpine pasture, which is full of wildflowers in late spring. At the far end of the walk, discover a shady waterfall before returning to Ribčev Laz. This scenic route offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquility.
