Bilbao and Santander, Self-drive

Upon arrival at Bilbao airport, collect your car and begin your exploration of the largest city in the Basque Country. Discover the city's transformation since the opening of the iconic Guggenheim Museum in 1997, and marvel at the architectural masterpieces that have sprung up around it. Overnight in Bilbao (or similar).

After breakfast, drive to the historic town of Guernica, immortalized by Picasso's famous painting. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along La Concha beach and take a funicular ride to the top of Igueldo hill for a panoramic view of the city. Return to Bilbao for the night (or similar).

After breakfast, set off for the elegant city of Santander. Known for its aristocratic charm, 19th-century architecture, and stunning bay, Santander offers a blend of sea and mountain views. Explore the city's old quarter, beaches, and harbors, and immerse yourself in its rich history. Overnight in Santander (or similar).

After breakfast, drive to the charming town of Santillana del Mar. Take the opportunity to visit the nearby Altamira Neocave and Museum, home to some of the oldest known cave paintings. Continue to Comillas, a historic-artistic site with cobbled streets, ancestral houses, and modernist buildings. Return to Santander for the night (or similar).

After breakfast, drive back to Bilbao. Spend the day at your leisure, perhaps sampling the famous Basque 'pintxos' in one of the many bars in the old town. Overnight in Bilbao (or similar).

Bid farewell to the beautiful Basque Country. After breakfast, drive to Bilbao airport to drop off your car and catch your departure flight. Safe travels!
