Your journey begins in the enchanting medieval village of Santillana del Mar. After a brief introduction to the bikes and the route, spend the day exploring the village's cobbled streets. Visit the modern museum of the Altamira Caves or enjoy a leisurely ride around the country lanes and down to the coast.

Cycle westwards through green meadows, hills, valleys, and the stunning unspoilt coastline. Explore Novales, a village set amidst lemon groves, and Comillas, a town known for its fine beach, harbour, and architectural sights. End your day with a ride through the Parque Natural de Oyambre and along the beautiful beaches of Oyambre and Merón.

Spend the day getting to know the picturesque mountain village of Carmona. Enjoy a ride through the unspoilt hill country behind the village, take a canoeing trip on the Deva river, or simply relax on the beach. With rides of various distances available, you can choose your own adventure.

Cycle westwards around the stunning coastline of Pechón and cross the River Deva to enter Asturias. Visit Colombres, home to the sumptuous villas of the indianos, and continue between the coast and the dramatic mountains of the Sierra de Cuera. A beautiful descent through eucalyptus forests leads you to the charming fishing village of Llanes.

Visit a string of fine beaches including the incredible landlocked beach of Gulpiyuri, or ride through the most beautiful hills and valleys behind Llanes. Alternatively, hike through the dramatic and renowned Cares Gorge in the heart of the Picos de Europa. Take a train to Ribadasella and visit the Caves of Tito Bustillo with their prehistoric paintings before cycling back to Llanes.

From Llanes, turn south towards the magnificent Picos de Europa. A spectacular ride takes you over the pass of El Mazuco and the Sierra de Cuera, and you are finally greeted with the panorama of the Picos themselves. A final descent takes you into the valley of Cabrales and the village of Arenas de Cabrales, famous for its authentic blue cheese and gateway to the Picos mountains.

Enjoy a free day in Arenas de Cabrales. Cycle to the mountain village of Sotres or Tresviso, famous for its blue cheese matured in caves. Take the funicular railway up to Bulnes, once possibly the most isolated village in Spain, or walk the world-famous Ruta del Cares. Alternatively, just take a day off and enjoy the bustling village atmosphere of Arenas.

Follow the River Cares, with the Sierra de Cuera to your left and the imposing Massifs of the Picos de Europa to your right. In Panes, the Cares flows into the Deva and you follow the latter to the village of Potes. The route runs through the incredible gorge of La Hermida, with mountains towering around you as you cycle towards Potes and the valley of Liébana, completely encircled by mountains.

Explore the valleys of Liébana. The cable car at Fuente Dé offers breathtaking views of the mountains, where brown bear and wolves still roam. Hike through the lush green valleys or the higher mountains, or visit the busy market village of Potes. Cycle up to the Monastery of Santo Toribio or the charming country monastery of Piasca. There is no shortage of things to do in this magnificent setting.

Enjoy yet another day in the magnificent setting of Potes and the Picos de Europa. Whether you choose to explore more of the town, take another hike in the mountains, or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere, the day is yours to spend as you wish.

A vehicle transfer takes you to the Cantabrian Mountains, where you begin your descent of the Miera Valley to Somo. From the starting point high above sea level, enjoy a marvellous ride through the stunning limestone valley of the River Miera. Visit the mountain village of San Roque de Riomiera and the spa village of Liérganes before reaching Somo and the Bay of Santander.

Somo boasts a marvellous beach with miles of golden sand. Take a short boat ride across the Bay to visit the lively and elegant city of Santander, capital of the province of Cantabria. Cycle through green country lanes to visit the beautiful beaches of Loredo, Langre or Galizano and the village of Ajo, famous for its paellas. Enjoy freshly grilled sardines in the seaside restaurants of Pedreña, birthplace of the famous golfer, Severiano Ballesteros.

Your 13-day cycling adventure comes to an end. Transfer from Somo to either Santander or Bilbao for your onward journey. As you leave, take with you the memories of the stunning landscapes, charming villages, and vibrant cities you've explored on this unforgettable tour.
