Stockholm: Guided Bike Tour

I thought the tour guide was exceptional. Some really fun facts that I’ll take with me

This was a bit of a mixed bag. The weather was beautiful, the guide was friendly, and we really did see much more of this stunning city than a walking tour would have provided. That said, I would only recommend this to experienced city cyclists. The guide cycled very quickly, including zooming through lights right before they changed, making quick unexpected turns, and weaving around cars and surprised pedestrians. Multiple people fell, but he was so far ahead I don't think he noticed. I really would have liked to appreciate the city, but all my focus was on trying to keep up, and in the brief stops we did make there was very little time even to snap a few pictures. We finished ~20 minutes early, so an extra minute per stop would have been doable. Also, the bikes aren't great-- both the back tire break and gear shifts are done by pedaling, which I'm sure there's a trick to but resulted in lots of unexpected gear shifts and awkward slowdowns.

It was very nice and you get to see so much of the city.

The guide lacked real knowledge of Stockholm, offering only a few memorised facts. While we passed by several museums, there was no mention of the incredible buildings or rich history of the city. The bikes provided were extremely old, worn out, too small, and had faulty brakes, which the guide even admitted. Having done bike tours in other capitals, this was by far the worst experience. I was especially disappointed since I had convinced a friend to join, based on my great experiences with bike tours in Hamburg and London. I thought it would be an excellent way to explore Stockholm. To make matters worse, the Half Marathon was taking place (which we were unaware of and the company had failed to inform us), meaning we missed visiting some areas without being told beforehand. Overall, it was an incredibly poor experience and a waste of both time and money.

Eine tolle Fahrradtour mit einem freundlichen und sympathischen Guide (Stephen), der sich richtig gut in der Stadt auskannte, und auch neuen Dingen, die er von den Teilnehmern lernen konnte, gegenüber aufgeschlossen war. Unsere Gruppe war sehr klein (nur drei Teilnehmer), weshalb die Tour sehr persönlich und entspannt war. Das Equipment (Fahrräder und Helme) war sehr gut gewartet. Wir können die Tour uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
