BIKES
During the trip you will be provided with a 24 speed bike with hand brakes and locks. You will be provided with a pannier to carry your gear during the day. Helmets are supplied but you are also welcome to bring your own well-fitted helmet from home (this is recommended).
Electric bikes are available for an additional cost (must be pre-booked). Please note that e-bikes are heavier than regular bikes and should only be used by confident cyclists. Minimum height for e-bikes is 155cm (5ft08).
You will find your rental bikes waiting for you at your first hotel. The hotel reception staff will give you the keys for your bikes and direct you to the bicycle shed. Please check your bicycle before starting riding. If there is a problem, ask the reception for a solution. Always lock your bike when you are not using it. If possible, park the bike inside the hotels. More and more often our bikes have a so-called "defender lock with plugin chain".
HELMETS
Helmets are supplied but you are also welcome to bring your own well-fitted helmet from home (this is recommended).
BIKE INSURANCE
It is possible to purchase Bicycle Theft Insurance. Covered are: damages arising out of the theft of the bicycle; and damages to the bicycle as a consequence of the theft. Not covered are: theft of bicycle parts; and damages arising out of attempted theft.
This needs to be prebooked and prepaid in advance. Speak with your consultant for further details.
Additionally a Bicycle Breakdown Assistance insurance policy may ease your mind - If your rental bike breaks down our local bike mechanic will drive to you in his repair van and fix your bike so you can continue your tour. You won’t have to pay him repair costs. If it turns out the bicycle cannot be repaired on the spot, or if you don’t wish to continue cycling, the repairman can drop you off somewhere in his van. One companion plus bikes may join you in the van. Please ask your consultant for details.
GPS TRACKS
GPS tracks are available for free for this tour, to use on your own smartphone or device. Please speak with your reservations consultant if you would like to be sent the GPS tracks.
It is also possible to hire a GPS system to use during the cycle tour (a supplement applies). If you booked a GPS system, please ask for it at reception of the joining hotel.
BIKE ROUTINE
- Always check your bicycle before you start cycling. With rental bicycles you’ll find a puncture repair kit in your pannier, other tools are not included.
- Make sure to lock your bicycle, always and everywhere. And never put your bike keys in your luggage, which will be taken with the luggage transfer service - make sure you have the bike keys on you.
- If you've booked an e-bike: take the charger with you at all times during your cycling trip.
Luggage transfer between hotels - limited to 1 piece of luggage per person weighing a max 20kg. A charge for extra luggage items must be booked and paid before departure. Please note that small bags cannot be attached to the main luggage - they will be charged as separate pieces of luggage.
