Described is the normal accommodation that we use on this tour. At the time of booking please be aware that other places might be used instead, if these choices are full or closed for whatever reason. Baths/showers: Many rooms with ensuite/private facilities have a shower rather than a bath, usually because of limited space. Some hotels/guesthouses may however have a separate room in the house where a bath is available to guests.

Daily Itinerary
Day 1 – Day 1: Abbey Church
Day 1: Abbey Church
Begin your journey in the historic town of Abbey Church, where you'll explore the magnificent ruins of a 12th-century foundation. You'll also have the chance to visit the former home of Sir Walter Scott at Abbotsford, just a short distance away. Overnight stay will be in a cozy guesthouse or pub in the bustling village.
Day 2 – Day 2: Eildon Hills to Jedbergh
Day 2: Eildon Hills to Jedbergh
Start your day with a rewarding walk over the steep-sided Eildon Hills, offering panoramic views of the Tweed valley. Descend to Newtown St Boswells and follow the banks of the Tweed to Dryburgh Abbey, the site of Sir Walter Scott's grave. End your day in the charming town of Jedbergh, where you'll stay in the welcoming Allerton House (or similar).
Day 3 – Day 3: Harestanes to Morebattle
Day 3: Harestanes to Morebattle
Return to Harestanes and cross the River Teviot to join the old Roman Road of Dere Street. Along the way, you'll pass the tower of Cessford Castle, a 15th-century structure built by the Ker Clan. Your day ends in the neat Borders village of Morebattle, where you'll stay in the Templehall Hotel (or similar).
Day 4 – Day 4: Morebattle to Kirk Yetholm
Day 4: Morebattle to Kirk Yetholm
Today's journey takes you from Morebattle to the village of Kirk Yetholm. Along the way, you'll cross the Kale water river and ascend steeply to Wideopen Hill, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views. Your overnight stay will be at The Plough Hotel (or similar), a listed building of architectural importance in the heart of Kirk Yetholm.
Day 5 – Day 5: Kirk Yetholm to Wooler
Day 5: Kirk Yetholm to Wooler
Cross the border into England and traverse the northern sector of the Cheviot Hills within the Northumberland National Park. The trail becomes steeper and the views wider as you cross the beautiful College Valley before descending to Wooler, a market town since the 13th century. Your accommodation for the night will be the Tilldale Guesthouse (or similar).
Day 6 – Day 6: Wooler to Lowick
Day 6: Wooler to Lowick
Today's route takes you across the rolling terrain of Westwood and Football Moors, passing by St Cuthbert's Cave, a historical site linked to the saint's life. You'll then descend through forests and agricultural land to reach Fenwick, from where you'll be transferred to Lowick for your overnight stay at The White Swan Inn (or similar).
Day 7 – Day 7: Fenwick to Lindisfarne
Day 7: Fenwick to Lindisfarne
In the morning, you'll be transferred back to Fenwick and then cross the sands to Lindisfarne, an island steeped in history. Here, you'll explore the 12th-century Priory ruins and the 16th-century castle. Please note that the causeway to the island is covered by the tide for up to 5 hours in every 12, so timing is essential. Your overnight stay will be in a hotel in the only village on Holy Island.
Day 8 – Day 8: Lindisfarne to Bamburgh
Day 8: Lindisfarne to Bamburgh
Today's journey takes you back to the mainland to the village of Bamburgh, located in the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here, you'll visit the well-preserved Bamburgh Castle, where Henry VI once tried to rule his kingdom. Your overnight stay will be at the Sunningdale Hotel (or similar) in the centre of Bamburgh.
Day 9 – Day 9: Bamburgh to Dunstan
Day 9: Bamburgh to Dunstan
Follow the coastal path past the impressive ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, wrecked in the English Civil War in the 1640s. You'll then head to the village of Dunstan near Craster, famous for its kippers. If you wish, you can take a boat trip from Seahouses to the Farne Islands National Nature Reserve (not included in the tour price). Your overnight stay will be at The Cottage Inn (or similar), located a short walk from the centre of Craster.
Day 10 – Day 10: Departure
