Alpine Pasture Hike in the Salzkammergut

Welcome to the start of your alpine adventure. Settle into your accommodation at the Aberseehof Hotel (or similar) and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

Begin your day with a hike from the shores of Lake Wolfgangsee to the first alpine pastures, passing by a wildlife reserve. Traverse the back of the Sparber summit to reach the Schartenalm, nestled between steep rocky peaks. On your way back, stop at a snack bar offering game dishes from a local farm and enjoy a fantastic view of St. Wolfgang. Rest for the night at the Aberseehof Hotel (or similar).

Today, you'll explore the alpine plateaus. Starting from the Mozart village of St. Gilgen, take a cable car to the Zwölferhorn for a stunning view of the glacier regions. Hike to the Königsbachalm via the Panoramaweg and the Illingeralm. Experience the beauty of the forested Nöckelberg area with its rushing waterfalls. Finally, ascend to the Genneralm, where you'll spend the night in a cozy alpine pasture, surrounded by lush pastures and numerous peaks. Overnight at the Posch'n Hütte (or similar).

Spend the day enjoying the alpine life. Hike to the neighboring alpine pastures of Moosangerl or Gruberalm, climb a vantage point, and try the famous 'Pofesen'. The rocky peaks, ridge paths with panoramic views, and simple mountain pasture paths invite you to take leisurely or extensive tours. Overnight at the Posch'n Hütte (or similar).

Today, you'll hike down into an idyllic high valley with numerous small alpine huts nestled in the steep mountain slopes. As you walk, you'll pass grazing herds of cows. Your path soon winds out of the valley along the Ackersbachklamm. The impressive old Postalm road leads to the Zinkenbachklamm natural monument. Your journey to the Innerlienbachalm and on to the center of the extensive Postalm area takes you via the Ausserlienbachalm and lonely alpine paths. Overnight at the Huberhütte (or similar).

Your hiking stage today leads along the historic brine pipeline path into the Rettenbach valley and up to the Blaa Alm at the foot of the Loser massif. Traverse alpine pastures and meadow paths to reach the tranquil Ausseerland. Overnight at the Huberhütte (or similar).

On your final day of hiking, ascend via the Wiesleralm over the small pass between Windkogel and Thorhöhe, where Lake Wolfgang greets you. Continue via the Niedergadenalm and the Schwarzeneckalm into the valley to the shore of Lake Wolfgangsee. Your route takes you back to the starting point through the Blinklingmoos nature reserve. Rest for the night at the Aberseehof Hotel (or similar).
