Your hike leads out of the city towards Untersberg. At Marzoll Castle, you cross the border to the Bavarian Rupertiwinkl before you come to the salt metropolis of Bad Reichenhall. Relax in the warm brine water of the thermal baths, visit the spa park and the old salt works. Rest for the night at Hotel Bergfried & Schönblick (or similar).

Today you follow the Saalach back into Salzburger Land. You hike past Lake Saalachsee and deeper into the mountains. Your path partly runs directly on the banks of the Saalach, which flows romantically through the rocks. Rest for the night at Hotel Kirchenwirt (or similar).

Continue to follow the Saalach, past gorges and waterfalls to Lofer. The tranquil mountain town, surrounded by the impressive peaks of the Loferer Steinberge, the Reiter Alpe, and the Loferer Alm, invites you to take a break. Then you go up to the Strub Pass, where you now hike on the Tyrolean Way of St. James to Waidring. Rest for the night at Hotel Tyrolean Adler (or similar).

Past the Pillersee with its glittering expanse of water and famous pilgrimage church, we head to St. Jakob, where the mighty Jacob's Cross greets us from the mountain peak. A promising path takes you to St. Johann in Tirol, which lies idyllically between the Kitzbühel Alps and the rocky peaks of the Wilder Kaiser massif. Rest for the night at Sporthotel Austria (or similar).
