Tyrol Self-guided Tour on the Lechweg Trail (8 days)

Your adventure begins at the charming Alpine village of Lech am Arlberg. After settling in, take the opportunity to explore the village and its surroundings. Your accommodation for the night will be at the Hotel Bergheim (or similar).

Start your day with a local bus ride to the Formarinsee terminus. From there, hike down to Lake Formarinsee, taking in the panoramic views across the lake. Continue your journey along the Lech riverside path, passing the ibex monument and beautiful waterfalls. Your accommodation for the night will be at the Hotel Bergheim (or similar).

Follow the Panoramaweg towards Steeg. The path runs above the Lech gorge, offering glimpses of the river's magical turquoise waters. After a series of serpentines, you'll reach the banks of the Lech and hike into the village of Steeg.

Today's journey takes you along the Jochweg to Holzgau, passing Austria's longest pedestrian suspension bridge. Continue your hike to Elbigenalp, the geographical center of the Lech Valley. Your accommodation for the night will be at the Hotel Gasthof Stern (or similar).

From Elbigenalp, the Lechweg leads you through Häselgehr, Elmen, and Vorderhornbach to Stanzach. Along the way, you'll encounter the Doser waterfall, a unique natural phenomenon. A detour to the Baichlstein offers an impressive view of the Lechzopf, a striking course of the wild river.

Today, you'll explore the wild river landscape of the Lechweg. Pass the Lechzopf to Forchach and continue over the Johannesbrücke to Weissenbach. The hike takes you along Lake Rieden and through Höfen, offering a panoramic view of the Reutte valley basin. Your accommodation for the night will be at Die Lilie - Hotel Garni (or similar).

On the last day of hiking, you'll pass through the Pflacher Au, known for its unique variety of birds. The final stretch takes you along forest paths to the Sternschanze and towards the Alpsee lake in Bavaria, where you'll see the castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. Descend through the forest to reach the Lech Falls, marking the end of the Lech Trail. Your accommodation for the night will be at the Altstadthotel Zum Hechten (or similar).

It's time to say goodbye to the beautiful corners of the Lech Valley. After breakfast, you'll depart for your next destination, carrying with you a wealth of unforgettable memories from this multi-day tour.
