Day Tour of Kruja and Shkoder - Discover North Albania Heritage

After our incredible 3-day UNESCO tour exploring the south of Albania, we decided to book another tour with Local Friends Albania—this time to the north, visiting Kruja and Shkodra. And once again, it was an unforgettable experience!

Shkodra, known as the capital of the north, was fascinating. The city’s history, culture, and stunning views truly impressed us. Kruja was also a highlight, with its charming old bazaar where we found beautiful souvenirs to take home. The Skanderbeg Museum was fantastic, giving us a deeper understanding of Albania’s national hero and history.

As always, Local Friends Albania delivered an excellent experience. Everything was well-organized, and our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing Albania’s rich history. If you’re looking to explore the best of Albania, we highly recommend booking with them!

The tour was fantastic and Albi was AMAZING. I feel like I took a master class in the history and culture of Albania. He was so professional and well put together; this man knew his stuff. He was an incredible driver and I felt very safe driving with him. I honestly have probably never had a better tour in my life. You can tell he cares deeply about his clients, as well as sharing the history and culture of Albania with those who are visiting. I would recommend anyone to ask for Albi for this tour because he made the trip an absolute joy. Seeing both of the castles was incredible and the museum at Kruja Castle is totally worth the trip. Rozafa Castle was a fantastic stop as well. We had a great walk around Shkoder and he helped select a great place for me to have lunch. I wish there were more stars to share for how wonderful the day was!! Hands down Albi made it the best tour I have been on in Albania, and probably ever! Highly reccomend!

What a truly memorable day filled with history and fantastic detail about Albanian life. Great communication before day too. Great to have a local driving too. You will not regret taking this trip, just do it.

This was my third excursion with Local Friends Albania. Had previously visited Prizren in Kosovo, Berat, and Ohrid in North Macedonia. From first contact via WhatsApp to the day of the tour itself, Skerdi and Xhulijo were awesome. Highly knowledgeable not just on the surface but on deeper questioning. They know their stuff! Highly recommend - particularly Skerdi’s singing ….. 😎

With this tour I believe I have completed my exploring of Albania through day tours and multiday tours. Would 100% recommend Local Friends Albania and especially Skerdi as he has the right experience and is also very kind and understanding.

This excursion was excellent. Zeni my guide was friendly, considerate and courteous, and the places we visited were great too! Shkoder is a very attractive place and well worth a visit. As was Kruja . Zeni’s knowledge of the places we visited is extensive, and in Shkoder he got the custodian to open up the cathedral just for me! A great trip, and highly recommended. Wendy
