Munich Lakes Variations 10/9

Begin your journey in the vibrant city of Munich. After a welcome briefing and bike fitting, spend the day exploring the city's many attractions, including the lush English Garden, the historic Town Hall, and the iconic Hofbräuhaus.

Leave Munich behind as you cycle to the beautiful Lake Starnberg, passing through the tranquil Forstenrieder Park. Continue along the lakeside cycle path, taking in the crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain views, until you reach the charming village of Bernried.

Cycle through picturesque Bavarian villages and past the serene Osterseen Lakes and Lake Riegsee. Your destination for the day is the artistic town of Murnau am Staffelsee, where the connection between art and music is evident in the local culture and architecture.

Start your day with a ride through the Murnauer Moos nature reserve, the largest swamp area in Central Europe. Continue along the River Loisach to the town of Garmisch Partenkirchen. Here, take an optional trip on the Zugspitzbahn mountain railway for a breathtaking view of the Alps.

Enjoy a free day in Garmisch Partenkirchen. You may choose to take a ride on the cog railway up to the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain. The journey to the top is an adventure in itself, and the views from the peak are truly unforgettable.

Take a train to Scharnitz and from there, cycle uphill through stunning gorges and lush meadows to the spring of the River Isar. Cycle back through a sunny valley with panoramic views of the Karwendel and Wettersteingebirge mountains, passing Mittenwald and finally arriving in Wallgau, a village where Bavarian tradition is still a part of everyday life.

Follow the turquoise waters of Lake Sylvenstein and cycle through charming landscapes until you reach Bad Tölz. Once a thriving trading centre due to its location at the crossroads of two trade routes, the ornate mansions in the town are a testament to its golden age.

Cycle through the scenic Tegernsee countryside to Gmund at Lake Tegernsee, where you'll enjoy a panoramic view of the lake. Return to Bad Tölz via the Gaißbach valley. Spend the rest of the day exploring Bad Tölz's Market Street and learning about the famous television series 'Der Bulle von Tölz'.

Follow the Isar bike path from Bad Tölz through Geretsried and Wolfratshausen to Grünwald. After a few short climbs, you'll arrive back in Munich, where you can spend the rest of the day exploring the city's countless sights and attractions.
