This Greece shoestring level tour is designed to allow you to explore Greece in comfort but on a budget. To achieve this, we share departures on this tour with other operators and work with a larger potential maximum group size than on our small-group tours. The minimum group size is 2, and the maximum 45, with average numbers generally around 25-30. This is a 'seat in coach' style tour so some other travellers in the group may be doing a slightly different itinerary or not be with you for the entire trip. Pick ups and drop-offs may be required from more than one hotel in Athens subject to the final size and make-up of the group.

Welcome to Athens, the cradle of Western civilization. Upon your arrival at Athens airport (ATH), our representative will warmly welcome you and arrange your transfer to your hotel situated in the city center. The rest of the day is yours to relax or start exploring this vibrant city. If you wish, you can extend your stay in Athens with extra nights at the hotel.

Get ready to delve into the rich history of Athens. Our city tour begins with a visit to the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympics in 1896. We then proceed to the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch. The tour also includes a visit to the Parliament, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and the Constitution Square. The highlight of the day is a visit to the Acropolis, where we explore architectural gems like the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and the iconic Parthenon.

Today, we bid farewell to Athens and set off for the town of Delphi. En route, we pass through Thebes, Levadia, and the mountain village of Arachova. In Delphi, we explore the famous archaeological site, home to the sanctuaries of Apollo and Athena Pronaia. We also visit the Treasury of the Athenians. In the afternoon, we head towards Kalambaka, the gateway to the awe-inspiring Meteora rock formations and monasteries.

Today is dedicated to exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Meteora, known for its cliff-side and mountaintop monasteries. Learn about the monks who sought refuge here in the 14th century and marvel at the stunning views. Please note that there is a strict dress code for visiting the monasteries. After soaking in the beauty of Meteora, we return to Athens, stopping en route to see the statue of Leonidas at Thermopylae.

As our memorable Greece tour comes to an end, you can spend the day at leisure in Athens if your flight is scheduled later. You can explore more of the city or indulge in some last-minute shopping.
