Hiking Zagori and Meteora Self-guided

Your journey begins in the historic city of Ioannina, where you'll be transferred to the charming village of Vitsa. Depending on your arrival time, you can embark on your first hike along the Vradeto – Beloe – Vradeto steps, offering panoramic views over Vikos canyon. After the hike, you'll be transferred to your guesthouse in Vitsa for a homemade dinner and a restful night.

After a hearty homemade breakfast, you'll embark on a hike to explore the historic arch stone bridges of the area, passing by traditional stone-made villages along the way. The hike starts from Vitsa and ends in Koukouli village, with a packed lunch to enjoy on the trail. After a day of exploration, you'll return to your guesthouse in Vitsa for dinner and rest.

Today's hike takes you through the stunning Vikos gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. Starting from Monodendri village, you'll traverse the ravine, admire the diverse flora and fauna, and enjoy a packed lunch by the river. In the afternoon, you'll be transferred to Papigo village for dinner and overnight stay.

Today's hike is a challenging yet rewarding journey to the Astraka refuge and the stunning Dragon Lake. Starting from Mikro Papigo village, you'll ascend to the refuge, where you'll take a break for lunch and relaxation. From there, you'll continue to the Dragon Lake, taking in the breathtaking alpine scenery. You'll spend the night at the mountain refuge of Astraka, enjoying a homemade dinner.

Wake up early to watch the sunrise before setting off for a day of hiking across Mount Tymfi. You'll traverse the ex-glacial terrain, pass by vertical caves and the Megas Lakkos gorge, and reach Tsepelovo village after a 6.5-7 hour hike. Once in Tsepelovo, you'll check into your hotel and rest, with your luggage waiting for you.

After a leisurely morning in Tsepelovo village, you'll embark on the Vradeto – Beloe – Kapesovo trail, offering stunning views over Vikos gorge. In the afternoon, a private transfer will take you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Meteora, where you'll check into your hotel and have the evening free to explore and dine at a local restaurant.

On the final day of your tour, you'll explore the spectacular rock pillars of Meteora on foot, following the paths of the ancient monks. You'll have the opportunity to visit some of the top-cliff monasteries and enjoy lunch at the picturesque square of Kastraki village. This marks the end of your self-guided hiking holiday in Greece, and from here, you can choose to head to Athens, Thessaloniki, or another Greek destination.
