Private Walking Tour: The Acropolis & Athens City Tour

This was my first time in Athens and I fell in love with the city and its people. We had a 6-hour private walking tour of the city, the Acropolis and many other monuments in the company of Vicki (Vasiliki) who was not only a wonderful guide but an archaeologist as well, so she had so much to tell us about the places we visited. And she bought the history of Athens alive by telling us stories and making us laugh. We could not have asked for a better guide for our first day in Athens and Vicki planned a really good route for us with stops for coffee and at places just to take in the view.

Great tour with Giota. She was at meeting place waiting for me and spent time providing history at all sights visited. Very knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommend.

Our tour guide was so knowledgable and sweet -- she took us all around the acropolis and several other city monuments leading up to it and it was a great way to be introduced to the Acropolis proper. Very high quality tour! Highly recommend.

We only had one day in Athens before heading to the islands and wanted to make the most of that day. This private tour was a perfect way to cover a lot of ground, learn a ton, and get a great taste of Athens. Our tour guide, Kate, was fantastic. Her historic knowledge was unmatched. She joked that no one could answer every single question, but somehow she knew it all. We saw many corners of Athens, with the highlight being the Acropolis. Kate already had our tickets but there was still a line, but she waited in the line for us while we took time to get a snack and go to the bathroom, just what we needed after a couple of hours of walking. Kate was also very thoughtful, making sure we each were refilling our waters during the hot day. We often do private tours in big cities and this one was right up there with our very favorites in Rome and Buenos Aires. If you are wondering if it's worth the time and cost, I assure you it's well worth it. Our brains were full and our bucket list checked after our day walking with Kate!

Excellent walking tour of Athens!! Very sharp guide who came prepared with printed materials as well as fun anecdotes. Really kept us engaged and we learned a lot!

The length of this tour is on the long side. We had limited time in Athens so had to compress and ‘go for it’!

if you have more time I would recommend doing the tour in two parts especially if the sun is out (which it always is in beautiful Athens!). Highly recommend this tour and company!

We had an excellent experience on our tour for four people. Our guide, Magda, was amazingly knowledgeable about Greek history and mythology. Our pace was perfect with a couple of enjoyable stops for coffee. Magda was more than accommodating about what we wanted to see and went the extra mile - literally - to ensure we got to our restaurant in the Plaka (not easy on your own!) We highly recommend Magda and Athens Walking Tours!

I cannot recommend Athens Walking Tours more highly!! They have run tours for us for two years and both years have been fantastic.. the groups have always been so positive and complimentary about the experience. The guides are so knowledgeable and know how to make the tour so interesting, even when it's unbearable heat! I recommend them for big group tours!!
