Start the day with a drive through Eldhraun, a lava field created by one of Iceland's most devastating volcanic eruptions. Continue to the village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur, then across black sand plains to Skaftafell, a green oasis nestled below the Vatnajokull glacier.
