Our adventure begins early in Reykjavik, where we gather at City Hall and embark on a scenic drive to Landmannalaugar. Along the way, we pass by Hekla, Iceland's most active volcano. Upon arrival, we explore the geothermal wonderland of Landmannalaugar, with its colorful rhyolite mountains and bubbling hot springs. We traverse the rugged Laugahraun lava field and marvel at the vibrant slopes of Brennisteinsalda volcano. The night is spent in the remote Landmannalaugar huts, surrounded by stunning natural beauty.

After a hearty Icelandic breakfast, we journey towards Hrafntinnusker, a flinty obsidian desert. We then encounter the snow-capped peaks of the Reykjafjoll Mountains before descending into the lush valley of Jokultungur. Weather permitting, we hike towards Mt. Haskerdingur for spectacular views. Our descent leads us past the River Grashagakvisl to Lake Alftavatn, where we spend the night.

We begin our day by re-fording the stream and heading deeper into the Icelandic Highlands. We pass by the emerald green volcano Storasula and traverse the jet-black volcanic desert of Maelifellssandur. At its center stands the grass-covered Mt. Maelifell. We continue to Emstrur, visiting the Markarfljotsgljufur Canyon before arriving at Botnar for the night.

After breakfast, we set out towards the renowned Thorsmork Valley, nestled between two glaciers. We pass by the Myrdalsjokull Glacier and the uniquely shaped Einhyrningur mountain. Our journey takes us through a dense birch forest, signaling our arrival at Thorsmork, where we spend the evening amidst towering glaciers and majestic peaks.
