2 Hours Pompeii Group Tour with Archaeologist Guide and Skip the Line

Definitely ask for a tour with an Archeologist.

We did a two hour tour with Eliana in September of 2024. Her knowledge of the area and passion for archaeology were very evident.

Because of her high level of knowledge, given her years of education and experience, she spoke eloquently about many subjects. Her explanation of the people and commerce of Pompei, including aspects of their daily lives (diets, social status, relationship to Rome) was easy to understand. It felt much easier to empathize with these people from nearly 2,000 years ago than I expected.

Her status as a guide was also great for our experience. We were allowed access to a villa, for example, that was not open to the general public. She seemed quite happy to move at our pace, pause where we wanted to ask questions, and skip areas that we found too crowded.

She also kindly offered advice for our brief experience of Naples (her home town). We recommend listening to her recommendations, because the lady has good taste in pizza.

We had Ciccio as our archeologist guide and he was absolutely fantastic and a very, very nice guy! We felt like we really got to see the best highlights of Pompeii (which was a lot larger of a ruins complex than we realized)! He was extremely knowledgeable and provided a detailed tour and was able to answer our many questions! We had the most fabulous time AND he was also happy to take photos for us of our group on my phone and he has a great eye for photography too!

Her knowledge and insight of Pompeii made it even more fascinating to experience this wonderful place. To be able to ask endless questions on a private tour is really lovely so for our group of 4 it worked really well as we were able to cover so much of Pompeii with Eliana.
