Civitavecchia: Rome and Vatican Private Shore Excursion

Ricardo was fantastic. he provided a lot of good information on what we were seeing, and his instructions on meeting times/places were very clear. It was a long day, but I left feeling like I had seen and felt the essence of Rome.

This was am amazing excursion. Mauro picked us up right outside the ship. The SUV that picked us up was super nice and clean. Mauro was very knowledgeable and careful driving around the city. We got to see the Spanish steps, the fountain (although it is being repaired), the Coliseum and the Vatican all in one afternoon. Even with heavy traffic, we still made it back to the ship right on time. Our driver even bought us a coffee. What a nice man! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is considering it.

Having a private driver who also was able to speak about the history of Rome was amazing! Riccardo got us where we needed to be on time and we were able to do so much in 8 hours. We did a Colosseum tour, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and a tour of St Peter’s basilica and the Vatican grottos! If your cruise stops in Rome, this is the only way to see everything in one day.

We are a family of 4 with twin girls who are 8 years old. This was our first time in Rome, so we wanted to make the most of our day. Our driver Ricardo was excellent and made our day run so smoothly! He provided expert commentary on our drive into & around Rome and drove us in a very comfortable Mercedes van. He expertly navigated the area and took us to the Coliseum for a guided tour we had booked, to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps, to a market area for a wonderful lunch, to the Vatican museums for a private tour I had booked, and finally back to our ship! Being with a private driver allowed us to be dropped off close to the sites, and we got to see so much more than we could have on our own or with a big bus tour. He also walked us to our guides and to lunch so we never got lost or struggled to find our way. We were able to use all our time and energy to just enjoy the day. We highly recommend this company & Ricardo to anyone visiting Rome who wants an amazing day!

We had a lovely day with our driver Federico! He took us around to all of the popular spots in Rome and was able to drive into locations that a tour bus definitely could not. He was very knowledgeable about the area and suggested some places for us to grab something to eat/drink, and brought us back to the port with plenty of time to spare. I would definitely recommend this activity to anyone looking to spend a day in Rome!

Great tour, guide, and price. Much cheaper than the cruise excursion price. We enjoyed our guide. He was awesome! He made us reservations at a great restaurant for lunch and everything. Only complaint is the tour could have been a little longer. We arrived back at the ship with several hours to spare. Would have loved to spend more time at the Vatican or see more sites. Otherwise it was a great tour.

Marco was great. He efficiently got us to all the popular spots and knows the city like the back of his hand. There were multiple situations where people were waiting in traffic while we took some backroads to get around. We were only in town for a day and there’s no way we would’ve seen as much if he wasn’t driving us around. Even when our Colosseum took about 45 mins longer than expected and it seemed like we weren’t going to have time to eat lunch Marco found us a place that allowed us to have a quick bite before our afternoon tour. My kids thought he was hilarious as well and when asked what their favorite part of Rome was they said Marco. Highly recommended.
