From Rome to Paris

Welcome Unitripers, are you ready for this exciting adventure through part of the European continent? We start this tour in the city of Rome, the capital of Italy. From here our Rome to Paris Trip will start. A good way to start is to tour this ancient city on foot, visiting the most important monuments… But it’s also time to relax, there’s time for everything!

Rome is known as the “Eternal City” and everything has its explanation. In this city time seems to have stopped centuries ago due to the multitude of monuments and remains of imposing buildings. This makes strolling through its streets become a journey back in time, to the era of maximum splendor of the capital during this Backpacking tour of Europe. The capital of Italy and ancient “caput mundi” awaits us with its thousands of years of history. There are plenty of reasons to visit Rome, be captivated by the city and wish to return to it, such as the gastronomy and its lively atmosphere are some of them. Before going to bed, stroll through its streets and savor the Italian cuisine in a typical Roman “osteria” or have an ice cream…

We continue to fall in love with this city that could well be a museum of extraordinary dimensions. Venice is one of the most photographed places in the world, and we can not be less, take out your camera because bridges, vaporetti and gondolas are waiting to be immortalized. We will enjoy the Byzantine influenced art that characterizes the Basilica of San Marco, you can admire the Grand Canal from the Rialto Bridge but if you really want to enjoy this city get lost in its narrow streets and be surprised when you turn every corner.

Breakfast and departure to Milan. We will cross all of northern Italy, the Padana plain, to go to another iconic Italian city, Milan. Apart from being the fashion city of Italy, it is one of the largest industrial and commercial centers in the world. We will visit the Duomo, its neo-gothic cathedral and then we will continue our way to Switzerland!

After breakfast we will drive to the Alps, the most impressive mountain range in Europe. Upon arrival at Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe that separates Italy from France. Weather permitting we will climb to the summit, otherwise you will stop to enjoy the snow or the incredible alpine scenery. In the evening you will head towards Geneva, one of the most famous cities in the world for being the headquarters of important international organizations such as the UN, the WTO or CERN. Here you can admire the Lac Leman that flows into the Rhone River.

Today on this first trip to Europe we will wake up in the “City of Light” and after having had a croissant for breakfast, we will start our route through Paris. We just have to choose where to start! You don’t have to be in love to enjoy Paris. We will take a walk through the most characteristic places of Paris, we will let ourselves be carried away by the Seine River until we find Notre Dame, the gothic cathedral with the most famous gargoyles in the world.
