We had a delightful day in Matera and Altamura on what turned out to be a private tour. Altamura was a surprise for us, not a town we knew anything about. The church was beautiful and the bakery was very interesting. We were also able to see pasta being made on the street. The guided tour of Matera was something we were looking forward to and we were not disappointed.

My husband, adult daughter and I had a wonderful day touring Altamura and Matera. It turned out to be a private tour for the three of us. We had delicious focaccia in Altamura at one of the bakeries in old town. The cathedral is beautiful, especially the front entrance and all the stories it tells. Matera was as beautiful as all the pictures I’ve seen. Our tour guide, (her first name escapes me - last name Pavia) was so informative. Her knowledge of the history of these two beautiful towns was so interesting.
