We pick up and drop off in Bari.
During this tour you stay in traditional ‘massseria’ accommodation. A ‘masseria’ is a large farmhouse, and previously these were fortified, largely self-contained rural centres. The masseria, where you will stay, Masseria Salamina has been tastefully renovated as a boutique accommodation provider (see www.masseriasalamina.com ). This is a 4 star hotel.
By staying in the masseria you will be directly experiencing Puglia’s history. Set amongst olive groves and fig trees, the buildings were constructed in the 17th century. The property was established as an agricultural enterprise even earlier, and it is still operating as a farm. Around the grounds you will see numerous aspects of times gone by, giving an insight into the lifestyle here in centuries past – you are immersed in history.
But we don’t forget the needs of the present! The masseria offers all you would expect during your time here, such as wifi and a swimming pool. And as well as our other restaurants during the week, we also dine in the masseria’s own excellent restaurant which serves food grown right on their own organic farm.
You will have a tour leader and yoga instructor with you throughout the duration of the retreat.
Additionally you will have location specific guides to take you through the walking routes that we do, as well as in a number of towns to give you some more in depth insight into what you are seeing.

Day 1 – Day 1: Bari to Masseria Salamina

We begin our journey in Bari, the vibrant capital of Puglia. From there, we head to our accommodation for the week, the charming 17th-century Masseria Salamina. Nestled amidst olive groves and fig trees, this boutique hotel offers modern amenities like Wi-Fi and a swimming pool. After a guided tour of the property, we partake in a relaxing yoga session. In the evening, we dine at the hotel's restaurant, indulging in organic food grown on their farm.
Day 2 – Day 2: Masseria Salamina to Ostuni

We start the day with a refreshing yoga session at dawn. After breakfast, we embark on a scenic walk along the coast, tracing the path of the ancient Roman road, Trajan's Way. We explore the hidden valley, known as a 'lama', and discover the remnants of dwellings from Neolithic times. Our journey continues to the 'white town' of Ostuni, where we wander through its narrow, whitewashed streets. We return to our accommodation for another yoga session before dinner.
Day 3 – Day 3: Masseria Salamina to Alberobello

After our morning yoga session, we visit the enchanting town of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its unique 'trulli' houses. We enjoy lunch in a former olive oil mill before embarking on a guided tour of the town. Later, we visit a family-run winery, where we learn about traditional wine-making techniques and taste a variety of local wines. We return to our accommodation for a yoga session, followed by a hands-on cooking lesson from a local chef.
Day 4 – Day 4: Masseria Salamina to Matera

We start the day with a yoga session before heading to the ancient town of Matera in the Basilicata region. We explore the 'sassi' cave area, visit a cave church, and learn about the town's history from our local guide. After lunch, we take a walk along the river valley, discovering more about the region's past. We return to our accommodation for an evening yoga session and a private performance of the local 'pizzica' dance.
Day 5 – Day 5: Masseria Salamina to Polignano a Mare
