Sicily & the Aeolian Islands Hiking

Begin your journey in the vibrant city of Catania. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel in the quaint town of Aci Catena, where you'll spend the night. Over a welcome dinner, you'll meet your fellow travelers and tour guide, setting the tone for the exciting adventure ahead.

After breakfast, you'll travel by bus to Milazzo and then by speedboat to Lipari, the largest island of the Aeolian archipelago. After checking into your hotel, you'll embark on a scenic hike to Monte Rosa, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding islands. The day concludes with a leisurely tour of the island. You'll spend the next four nights in Lipari.

Today, you'll venture to the island of Vulcano by speedboat. Here, you'll hike to the main crater, Gran Cratere, where you'll witness the awe-inspiring power of nature. Afterward, you'll have the chance to bathe in the soothing sulfur water at the foot of the volcano. In the afternoon, you'll return to Lipari to explore the town, Castle Hill, and the famous viewpoint, Belvedere di Quattrocchi.

Today's adventure takes you to the remote island of Alicudi. Here, you'll hike along donkey trails through the macchia, with the sea always in view, to Timone della Montagnola. This off-the-beaten-path hike offers solitude and the chance to spot wild blackberries. After marveling at the panoramic view of the Aeolian Islands from the top, you'll return to Lipari in the afternoon.

Today, you'll visit the island of Salina, famous for its wine and caper cultivation. With your guide, you'll climb Monte Fossa delle Felci, one of the island's main peaks. The challenging hike rewards you with stunning views of Filicudi and Alicudi. After the descent, you'll return to Lipari.

Today, you'll visit Stromboli, home to Europe's only continuously active volcano. Explore the island with your guide, learning about the life of the islanders with the active volcano. In the late afternoon, you'll walk to the old observatory and continue to Punta Labronzo, where you can marvel at the eruptions of Stromboli from a safe distance. You'll spend the next two nights on Stromboli.

Enjoy a leisurely morning at your hotel or the nearby beach. In the late afternoon, you'll hike to the vicinity of the active main crater with your guide and a local hiking guide. At the crest of Pizzo, you'll witness the spectacular sunset and the fiery spectacle of the volcano. After the descent, you'll return to the hotel.

Today, you'll leave the Aeolian Islands and return to Sicily. You'll explore the charming town of Taormina, strolling through its alleys and past small bars and cafes. A visit to the ancient Teatro Greco is a must, with its stunning views of the sea and Mount Etna. You'll spend the night in Aci Catena.

After an unforgettable adventure in the Aeolian Islands and Sicily, it's time to say goodbye. You'll be transferred to the airport for your return flight, taking with you a wealth of memories and experiences.
