Amazing!

This was easily the highlight of our trip. Well worth the price, a wonderful day high in the mountains surrounding Cammarata. Angelo was kind, funny, and a pleasure to hike with. He and Kristin, the translator, make a wonderful team. The dogs were great and we did find a few truffles, even though it was kind of in between seasons. We had a small picnic of snacks midway through, and it was an incredible spread with some of Angelo's homemade honey. We have recommended to all of our friends and family who are planning trips to Palermo and will definitely book again when we get a chance to return.

Amazing!

Truffle hunting with Angelo, his dogs, and Kristin (our translator) was a memorable experience my partner and I will never forget. Angelo was so kind and fun and made us feel very comfortable. We got to hunt for truffles and learn all about the landscape of the Sicani Mountains. Angelo fed us the most amazing lunch including cheese and honey produced on his farm. Kristin was wonderful to chat with and answered all of our questions — we had a lot of them! This was an informative and joyous experience in a beautiful setting we will never forget. We highly recommend it if you have time to got to Cammarata when visiting Sicily.

Amazing!

This truffle hunt experience was excellent.

Angelo lives in the local village along with a friend Christine who interpreted for us perfectly and was accompanied ofc by 3 excited truffle-hunting trained dogs.

We met at a convenient spot and then driven to the local woods high up in the hills with incredible views across most of the island.

Easy walking paths.

Angelo obviously has his special areas in the woods where he knows he will have some success, but otherwise the dogs are allowed to roam free and forage, and we then helped dig for the treasures.

Within 15minutes we had found the first white truffle of the season, and some aged black truffles. From then on, we found numerous black truffles along the way.

At the top of the trek, we had a lovely pre-packed lunch prepared by Angelo from the local area - meats, cheese, nuts, honey, bread, olives, drinks etc - felt wonderful to eat in the fresh air.

Angelo and Christine were fantastic hosts, very engaging and our family including two teenage boys all enjoyed the experience.

A great treat and something different on the way down from Palermo to the South.

Amazing!

Wow, what an amazing day we had with Angelo and his dogs, and Kristen our translator. Truffle hunting in the mountains on a perfect sunny day.The views were stunning

Angelo explained everything to us and told all about his dogs. We found truffles fairly quickly, one large summer truffle and several autumn truffles which were smaller.

Angelo served us a banquet of homemade truffle pate, focaccia, cheese, tomato’s, mushrooms, honey and almonds, all enjoyed sitting in the woods

This was the highlight of our holiday in Palermo.

Well done Angelo we loved spending time with

Amazing!

It was an outstanding trip and experience. You felt like being invited with local Angelo a sweet kind animal loving man on his Daily trip with his two extremely sweet truffledogs up the forest tracks in the mountains. He explained all about the dogs. Truffels the mountains and local customs. All the way he adjusted the trip to our wishes and needs. And then he supriced us with a sicilian country side lunch only homemade.

Strongly recommended for couples friends families and children. And Yes We. I mean the dogs found 9 truffles on the way wich we are taking back home to Cook.

Amazing!

From Palermo we took an easy train ride to Cammanata where we were met by Angelo and Christin and the two truffle hounds Rambo and Pesca. We were soon whisked away high into the mountains and, this being October meant that the temperature was a perfect 24 degree C and the air was clear. The views were spectacular and in the distance we could see Mount Etna’s smoking summit while below us we had a clear view of the towns of S. Giovvanni Gemini and Cammanatra. It was easy to see that the dogs had been here before . They were excited and keen. After only a few minutes Rambo had found our first truffle and with both dogs working well Angelo was working hard keeping up with them. He has to be quick to retrieve the truffle before the dogs eat them, but he is carefully to reward them with their favourite treats. Angelo had advised us to bring jackets with us in case the wind got up, and to wear trousers for protection from the undergrowth. The path was well defined and clear and was easy to negotiate and with the dogs working close to the path there was no real requirement for any orienteering. After a couple of hours we had gathered quite a haul of truffles and declared lunch. Angelo had promised us a snack but we were totally unprepared for what was to come! He had brought along a feast which included truffles, honey nuts bread mushrooms olives tomatoes cheeses all from his farm, produced by himself. This was the most memorable day of our Sicilian holiday and an experience that we will always treasure.

Thanks Angelo.
