San Sebastian Pintxo Food, Wine & Market Foodie Tour(Small Group)

This tour was the highlight of our trip to San Sebastián. Jon is very proud of his Basque heritage and his passion for food and wine shone through. We delighted in the history of Pintxos and those we tasted were top notch. An entertaining and very enjoyable evening, strongly recommend 😊

Wow! What a great evening! Jon gave us an incredible, informative and memorable evening! By chance, we were lucky enough to be the only people booked on the tour (on a very rainy, cold evening in December) and it was incredible! We started off with some “classic” pintxos with cider and txakoli and then we bar hopped to several bars trying a wide range of delicacies! Our favourites were the scallop dish and the tuna - oh my word, that tuna! We even went back to the bar the following evening by ourselves to have it again! In each bar we tried at least one or two dishes/small plates with a glass of wine/something tasty! Jon was great company and really informative telling us all about each dish and drink! Another highlight of the evening was the “Torrijas” blow torched in front of us! So yummy and a great spectacle! Such a great evening! We would highly recommend!

My siblings and I are meeting up from around the world for a special trip, and this was the perfect way to kick off our time in San Sebastián. The variety of flavors was fascinating—some familiar, some completely new—but that’s exactly what I was hoping for! It was a great way to step outside my comfort zone and experience the food culture of San Sebastián in an authentic way.

To top it all off, Jon followed up with an email full of personalized recommendations for the rest of our stay, ensuring we could continue exploring the city’s best food and drink spots. This kind of thoughtfulness and passion for what he does truly sets Jon apart.

Excellent tour! Highly suggest doing at the beginning of your stay in San Sebastián. Jon took us around to 5 locations and we not only had amazing food, wine and cider, but also learned a lot of history about the Basque region. He then provided us with recommendations of places to enjoy for the remainder of our stay. A definite “must do” activity while in San Sebastián!

This was my fourth time visiting San Sebastián and I wish I would have taken this tour on my first. The Pintxos bars can be overwhelming and the choices are endless. Jon’s passions for Basque food and culture is palpable and allows you to feel like an insider. We can now go back to our favorites and feel more confident exploring new ones.

His first stop brings the Anthony Bourdaine influences from his many stops in San Sebastian, clearly in focus SO GOOD ........

Stop searching. This is the tour you want and need. My wife and I had the great pleasure of touring with Jon around San Sebastián on what was billed as a Pinxtos foodie experience but was so much more.

Jon had curated a tour that took in the market and some incredible ingredients, the early Pinxots examples, through some sit down restaurants with plated Pinxtos and some bar hopping Pinxtos on the go. The food was incredible but more so was the history lesson Jon gave us about the region, the ingredients, the food style, the people that prepare the food and own the bars, the farming methods and the culture that really brought the whole thing together in such a wonderful way.

Jon is a wonderful host who clearly loves this region, the food and the people he comes across during these tours.

We cannot recommend this experience and Jon highly enough. We turned up thinking we were going to try some local food but left with an understanding way beyond our expectations.

Go ahead and book. Your future self will thank you.
