Arrive individually in Longyearbyen, the 'capital' of Svalbard. We recommend arriving a day before the tour starts. Before embarking, visit the Svalbard Museum to learn about the area's mining industry and polar history. In the late afternoon, embark on the ship and set sail towards Trygghamna. Spend the night on board.
Day 2 – Day 2: Exploring West Spitsbergen
Day 2: Exploring West Spitsbergen
Spend the day exploring West Spitsbergen, a region characterized by deep fjords, spectacular glaciers, and a rich history. Visit the remains of old whaling stations and former Russian Pomor settlements. Take a short hike to Alkhornet, where you might spot Arctic foxes and grazing reindeer. In Forlandsundet, near Sarstangen, observe walruses at a popular resting place. Overnight stay on board.

Today, journey along the north coast, the habitat of polar bears and the rare ivory gulls. Visit Sorgfjord, a popular spot for walruses, and Murchison Bay, home to numerous reindeer. You might also see the remains of an old Swedish research station. As you reach the Hinlopen Strait, marvel at the mighty ice cap of Nordaustlandet, the massive front of the Bråsvell Glacier, and the semi-fossil whale skeletons along the beaches. Explore East Spitsbergen, home to the spectacular Heleysundet strait. If the passage is not possible, cross the Freeman Sound a little further south. Barentsøya and Edgeøya offer many opportunities for short and longer hikes. Visit the beautiful Rosenbergdalen valley, where groups of reindeer almost always graze, or Diskobukta, home to a large, noisy colony of kittiwakes. Overnight stay on board.

Journey to Southwest Spitsbergen, characterized by two large fjords. Visit Hornsund, with its labyrinth of side fjords and many spectacular glacier edges, offering a good chance of encountering polar bears or bearded seals. You may also have the opportunity to visit the Polish research station at Isbjørnhamna. A little further north is Bellsund, where exciting geology contrasts with the sad evidence of whaling for the beluga. Overnight stay on board.
Day 6 – Day 6: Visit to Barentsburg and Return to Isfjord

If time permits, visit the Russian settlement of Barentsburg, where coal is still mined. Then, return to the Isfjord. Set course for Longyearbyen, where you are expected to arrive in the evening. Overnight stay on board.
