Embark on a thrilling 10-day expedition to the northernmost town on Earth, Longyearbyen, and explore the mesmerizing landscapes of Spitsbergen. The highlight of the tour is the chance to spot the majestic polar bears in their natural habitat. Guided by our expert photography guide, you'll capture stunning photos of these natural wonders. The tour includes comfortable accommodation on our expedition vessel, MV Vikingfjord, and delicious meals, ensuring a memorable and comfortable journey.

All meals are included. Our chef will prepare 3 fresh, hearty meals a day. On the day of boarding, dinner is included and on the day of departure, breakfast is served. Soft drinks are also included along with tea and coffee. Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase at the bar.

All our voyages include a highly experienced and passionate expedition leader. They will share their knowledge and passion with you throughout the trip so you get to learn about the wildlife and environment of Svalbard. They are trained in polar bear protection and will accompany you at all times when visiting the shore.
The newest addition to the Secret Atlas fleet, MV Vikingfjord, is the most eco-friendly expedition vessel in the Arctic, offering cruise ship comfort with all en-suite cabins, a large viewing lounge, and an on-deck hot tub and sauna.
Transfers from airport to hotel and to vessel for embarkation + vessel to airport/hotel after disembarkation are included.
Daily Itinerary
Day 1 – Day 1: Welcome to Longyearbyen

Your journey begins in the northernmost town of Longyearbyen. In the afternoon, you'll board our expedition vessel, MV Vikingfjord. After a safety briefing and an introduction by our photography guide, we'll set sail, leaving civilization behind. As we head north, you'll have the chance to photograph stunning glaciers and sea ice.
Day 2 – Day 2: Exploring Isfjorden
Day 2: Exploring Isfjorden
Today, we'll leave Isfjorden and keep a lookout for marine life, including blue and humpback whales, belugas, and walruses. In the afternoon, we'll visit either Krossfjorden or Kongsfjorden, where you'll have the chance to capture stunning landscape and glacier photos.
Day 3 – Day 3: Journey to the West Coast of Spitsbergen

We'll sail along the west coast of Spitsbergen, keeping an eye out for wildlife, including polar bears. If conditions allow, we'll venture to the edge of the sea ice, a prime hunting ground for polar bears. The sea ice itself offers mesmerizing photo opportunities. We'll explore the frozen northwest coast, traveling as far as the ice allows.

We continue our journey along the west coast of Spitsbergen, keeping a lookout for wildlife, including polar bears. If conditions permit, we'll venture to the edge of the sea ice for a chance to spot polar bears. The sea ice itself is a mesmerizing subject for photography. We'll explore the frozen northwest coast, traveling as far as the ice allows.

Our exploration of the west coast of Spitsbergen continues. We'll keep a vigilant watch for wildlife, including polar bears. If conditions allow, we'll venture to the edge of the sea ice, a prime hunting ground for polar bears. The sea ice itself offers mesmerizing photo opportunities. We'll explore the frozen northwest coast, traveling as far as the ice allows.
Day 6 – Day 6: More Adventures on the West Coast of Spitsbergen

We continue our journey along the west coast of Spitsbergen, keeping an eye out for wildlife, including polar bears. Our last day on the west coast of Spitsbergen will be filled with more wildlife watching and photography. We'll venture to the edge of the sea ice, a prime hunting ground for polar bears, if conditions permit. The sea ice itself offers mesmerizing photo opportunities. We'll explore the frozen northwest coast, traveling as far as the ice allows.
Day 8 – Day 8: Possible Visit to Hornsund or Belsund
Day 8: Possible Visit to Hornsund or Belsund
If time and conditions permit, we may sail south to visit Hornsund or Belsund. In early May, the fjords are typically still covered in fast ice, providing opportunities to encounter polar bears hunting along the ice edge. Alternatively, we may choose to use this time to maximize our exploration of the North.

If time and conditions permit, we may continue our exploration of Hornsund or Belsund. These fjords are typically still covered in fast ice in early May, providing opportunities to encounter polar bears hunting along the ice edge. Alternatively, we may choose to use this time to maximize our exploration of the North.
Day 10 – Day 10: Farewell to Longyearbyen
Day 10: Farewell to Longyearbyen
By morning, we will have arrived back at the port of Longyearbyen. After a final breakfast on board, we will disembark, leaving with new friends and lasting memories to cherish.
