Half Day Tour with Jeep Safari in the Algarve Mountains

What a thrill! Our driver took us on an exhilarating, wild ride up a mountain on dirt roads, through rough terrain all the time sharing the history of what we were seeing. The ancient Castelo de Paderne was so interesting having survived since the later 12th century.

Vitor was the best driver, very skilled but so considerate and respectful of us, his older passengers as he assisted us in and out of the jeep so we could enjoy photo ops or just be amazed at the scenery we we were seeing along the way. We stopped in several small villages where we had time to enjoy coffee and pastry at delightful shops, We visited a 200 year old church, spent time at a Gogi berry farm. We highly recommend Vitor as our driver. Thank you. One of our group said he would do well as a NASCAR driver. :)

Great ride in the back of a open-sided Jeep. Vitor was a expert guide and driver, and good fun. 4 hours +, well worth it.

Great tour guide, very informative even let us stay a bit longer and take our time as no one had any specific plans after. Loved every second. Good links with the local people in the areas we visit!

Excellent, entertaining guide and well recommended. The safari tour offered an unforgettable adventure. The funny guide had expert knowledge of the area and there was lots to see.

Took the tour with 4 other people and they were great travel companions. Our guide was excellent, very well informed and he shared much of his knowledge with us, and had a great sense of humor. We stopped at a farm, went to the waterfall, and had a 30 minute stop in Alte, which is a charming little village. Took some back roads which was an adventure especially after the heavy rain we had that morning. It was quite chilly so I would recommend taking a rain coat and a heavy jacket just in case it's needed. We were not rushed in any way and at the end of the trip we shared a bottle of sparkling wine. A very nice touch!! Despite the cool weather I enjoyed it immensely and would recommend it to anyone.

We were collected from the hotel by the very friendly guide, Fred.

We were joined by 2 Canadians and 2 from Belgium.

On the journey Fred told us such interesting facts about the History of the Algarve, Portugal, and its influences on the rest of the World.

He told us about the Earthquake of 1755, and its destruction.

We then stopped off at Castele de Paderne, and Fred talked of its History.

We stopped at a small rural Farm, growing lots of herbs, veg etc. Where we tried various products.

Our journey took us to the charming village of Alte, in th mountains surrounded by Orange groves. A beautiful place.

Fred is passionate about the area, and protecting it for future generations.

Even the rain could not dampen our spirits, and we all had a great fun trip.

I've done a few tours and safaris but this by far was the best I've been on and especially for the price you pay. We took rural roads, had lots of information on the tour about Portugal and the area whilst getting to walk around the castle and seeing many places of beautiful scenery. There is also a lovely village we got to visit which was great and the tour guide was fab (he has great music taste).
