Cycling Portugal - Porto to Lisbon

Welcome to Porto, Portugal's second-largest city. Upon arrival, meet your tour leader in the hotel reception at 6 pm for an orientation walk and a welcome dinner. If you're arriving early, take the opportunity to explore the city's historic centre and the Port Wine lodges along the river in Gaia. There's no cycling planned for today, so take the time to settle in and prepare for the adventure ahead.

After breakfast, we'll start our cycling journey through downtown Porto, crossing the iconic Luís I Bridge and following the Douro River. We'll then continue along the Atlantic Coast to the unspoilt resort town of Furadouro. Our hotel for the night is conveniently located by the beach, offering stunning views of the Atlantic and easy access to local restaurants and bars.

Today's ride takes us through the charming old town of Ovar and along the coastal trail to Sao Jacinto. After a short ferry ride, we'll continue cycling to Aveiro, a city known for its canals, Art Nouveau architecture, and colourful Moliceiros boats. Spend the afternoon exploring Aveiro, often referred to as the 'Venice of Portugal'. Our accommodation for the night is a typical Portuguese townhouse located in the city centre.

We start our day cycling through the colourful beachfront houses in the Costa Nova neighbourhood. Our route takes us through plains and marshlands close to the sea, ending in Praia de Mira. From there, we travel to Nazaré, a seaside town famous among surfers for its monster waves. Our hotel for the night is conveniently located near the beach, offering panoramic views of the town and the Atlantic Ocean.

Today's cycle route takes us south along the coast towards the charming beach town of Sao Martinho do Porto. We then continue to Foz de Arelho for a beachfront lunch. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy the fabulous beaches of Foz de Arelho. Our hotel for the night is conveniently located between Obidos Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, just a short walk from the beach.

Our final ride takes us along the sea until we reach Peniche. Along the way, we'll stop in Obidos, one of Portugal's most picturesque and well-preserved medieval towns. Once in Peniche, explore the walled historic centre and the old fort. Our accommodation for the night is a family-run hotel located in a 19th-century building in the city centre, just a short walk from the Atlantic Ocean and the Peniche Fortress.

This morning, we drive to Lisbon, Portugal's vibrant capital. Upon arrival, join your tour leader for an orientation walk, then spend the afternoon exploring the city at your own pace. From its historic neighbourhoods to its bustling riverfront, Lisbon offers a wealth of attractions to discover. In the evening, celebrate the end of our journey with a delicious meal at one of the city's many restaurants.

Our tour ends after breakfast at our hotel in Lisbon. You're free to depart at any time, but if your flight is later in the day, luggage storage facilities are available at our hotel.
