After breakfast, embark on a half-day walking tour of Lisbon. Explore the city's historic downtown district, marvel at the modern Monument to the Discoveries and its 16th-century counterpart, the Belem Tower. Today, we venture out of Lisbon for a day trip to the beautiful town of Sintra. Wander through its colorful buildings and cobblestone streets, and visit the world-famous Palacio Nacional da Pena. Explore the Disney-like Pena National Palace and Park, and enjoy the scenic drive back to Lisbon along the Tagus River. Stop at the westernmost point of mainland Europe, Cabo da Roca, and marvel at the dramatic cliffs and the picturesque area of Cascais.

Today, we leave Lisbon and head north to the medieval town of Obidos, a UNESCO Creative City of Literature. Explore its cobblestone streets and visit the stone-walled medieval castle. Next, we stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Monastery of the Dominicans of Batalha. Continue to Fatima, one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Catholics, and visit the extraordinary sanctuary complex. Our final destination of the day is Coimbra, a city that was once the capital of Portugal in medieval times. Don't miss the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities in the world.

Spend the morning at leisure in Coimbra. Visit the University of Coimbra, shop at Rua Ferreira Borges, or explore the Praca do Comercio. After settling into your accommodation, venture out to enjoy your first glimpse of this beautiful city. Enjoy dinner at a local Portuguese restaurant.
