Via Ferrata Adventure on Kuklata peak 2257 m in Rila Mountain

Nikya was an amazing guide for the Via Ferrata on Kuklata peak. He picked me up at my hotel at 8 am and the drive to the starting point was very interesting. I enjoyed that Nikya shared about the sights along the way and also about the Bulgarian life style.

We hiked first to the mountain hut and enjoyed a cup of coffee and then ascended to the start of the via Ferrata. Nikya promised and amazing panorama and it was! He was very thorough in explaining how to climb and was always paying attention to my moves and offering guidance when needed. He even took action pictures of me climbing which was a great remembrance.

I would definitely do another adventure with Nikya.

The Kuklata Via Ferrata really exceeded our expectations. Victor, our tour guide, provided a lot of useful information and answered any questions we had. The scenery is amazing, the route itself can be a bit challenging at times but it is very rewarding. We highly recommend Split the Mountain and will definitely look into their other tours.

This was a father and son (20 years) activity that we purchased 3 days before the Via Ferrata itself. Nicolay (Niki) contacted us 2 days before to offer us another Via Ferrata about 100 km North of Sofia as there was still too much snow at high altitude in the mountain and that it would be uncomfortable to walk in and not very safe. We could have cancelled and get reimbursed but decided to go ahead with the offered alternative. Niki picked us at a specific address in Sofia and drove us all the way. The rental eqpt was in very good conditions and even included gloves, which was an appreciated bonus. The Via Ferratta we did was shorter in length but slightly more difficult which means we had to take our time. Our guide Niki was always calm and supportive, offering an additional safety rope when needed. I even found that I had some muscles that I didn’t know needed exercising. To complete the day, we visited the god’s eyes cavern, a 25 min drive away and even saw real climbers in it! Now, I need to find a way to come back during the Summer to do the Kuklaka Via Feratta with Niki. Highly recommended, but for those are moderately in shape, or more.

Had great time climbing with nikki. He knows the rila and pirin mts really well. He's your man for any outing to the Bulgarian nature, plus, he's nice and a good person to talk to.

I recommend this via ferrata with this guide. Our guide was great, really good English so no problem of communication, he answered all our questions and was eager to talk with us, he adapated to the different level of experience of our group.

The via ferrata in itself is not so hard, maybe 2 or 3 more difficult passages but it went fine for all of us. The view on top is amazing, but also alongside the hiking/climbing. We had a wonderful day, thank you!
