By pure luck I was alone with the tour guide - a Van Gogh historian who clearly had a passion for her subject. I’ve never much like his art and wanted to understand him and his processes better. What a wonderful few hours of instruction and a privilege to be guided around the beautiful gallery, stopping at paintings and discussing his processes, his life, his struggles and his legacy. I was read some of his letters to to his brother when he was struggling and it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for your insight, knowledge, instruction and patience - answering questions as they occured to me. Highly recommend - so much better than standing in front of a picture you don’t quite understand reading a square of card next to it!!
