Sintra-Cascais Natural Park by E-Bike: 8- hour Tour from Lisbon

Simply the best day ever - a great way to see the area, understand a little of the history and culture, find a cafe and restaurant we would never have found otherwise, and enjoy amazing views and quiet routes on a busy Saturday. The bikes and kit was well maintained, was carefully fitted to us and worked well. Ricardo our guide was fantastic- very knowledgeable and happy to share his knowledge, well able to tailor the tour to our requests and needs and very thoughtful and helpful. We were very sad when our ways parted at the end. Thank you!

We are a family of 5 (including 3 young adults) and we had an amazing day with Ricardo in December 2024. After returning home from our 2 weeks in Portugal, this bike tour was voted our favorite thing we did while there. The e-bikes were simple to ride and provided the much-needed push climbing the hills around Sintra. At our stops with Ricardo, we learned so much about the history of the area and Portugal in general. The lunch was a perfect respite from our cycling and it was so nice to be in a little place that it seems only the locals would know about...Riding back down the hills to the beach and looking back at the top to see where we had just been....incredible! We arrived at the bike shop which was a short walk from our stay in the Alfama district. After being outfitted with bikes and helmets, we made a short ride to the train station where we boarded and headed to Sintra. First, We cannot say enough great things about Bruno, our guide. We thoroughly enjoyed his personality and knowledge of the city and history. My partner is not a strong cyclist and Bruno made certain to keep us together. After a brief visit to the town of Sintra, we began biking the hills toward the beaches of Cascais. We seemed to have the road to ourselves as not many cars were encountered. There were some steep areas which required huge “assists” from the e bike which handled it easily. We especially enjoyed our lunch at Refugio do Ciclista (an out of the way simple cafe) where for 9 euros we purchased a kebab (grilled fresh) served with fries/chips, rice, delicious dessert and soda. As we continued our trip toward the beaches of Cascais, we stopped at a mountainside spring where we filled our bottles with the fresh, sweet water and watched the salamanders and their pups in the water basin below. The ocean views were lovely as we biked the walking/bike path back to the train station and ultimately back to the bike shop where our adventure began. This tour , with BRUNO, is one of the TOP experiences we’ve ever taken and would not hesitate to do it again if we find ourselves back in Lisbon.

I got great help from Mafalda in arranging an e-bike tour to Sintra, on short notice. This was low season and there was no tour scheduled for the day I was available, but Mafalda took the trouble to set me up with an amazing tour guide, Jorge David.

Jorge is one of the best bicycle tour leaders I have encountered. He has expert knowledge of the region and its history, and used it to make the tour interesting and enjoyable. He was flexible with the itinerary and oriented the tour to my needs, preferences, and interests.

Without Mafalda's help and Jorge's expert guidance it would've been impossible for me to visit Sintra, because there was an ongoing rail strike. The direct train to Sintra didn't run on that day, and Jorge was brilliant in figuring out an alternate route, on the fly. Mafalda and Jorge, my gratitude to both of you!

Daniel was a great guide for our family of five. We had a full day and got to see a lot from our e-bikes. (Don’t get to go into any of the sites.) We thoroughly enjoyed the tour!

This bike trip was so fun and great way to see the Sintra-Cascais area. Jorge, our excellent guide, had a wealth of information about the area and history. It was a perfect mix of biking, sightseeing and historical sights. We felt safe on the roads under Jorge's guidance. Delicious Sunday lunch at Toca do Julio, then a spectacular ride through the Sintra national park and along the seaside into Cascais. Really great way to spend the day and see these beautiful towns and surrounds without getting caught in the crowds and lines.

Bruno was an amazing guide. It was an unforgettable experience. Spectacular views and scenery and Bruno was the perfect host.

George was our guide and we had a great day. After picking up your e-bike, you take the train to Sintra and bike around the city. The last portion of the ride takes you to the ocean and the views are incredible. The e-bikes make it a lot easier!
